The content is inextricably tied to context, and connecting between the students, the knowledge and the application of the knowledge to be learned is the only way that information can be transformed into meaning. 

As educators it is our responsibility and privilege to make choices as to the material with which students are surrounded for a large part of their lives. As a math teacher is it also important that my current content knowledge span across different fields so that I can provide tasks that overlap with different subjects.

They outline four principles to follow: 1. The problem has a real purpose, 2. The content and challenge should be relevant to students, 3. The mathematics of the problem offer a genuine advantage, and 4.
