         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>October, 1944-</strong> Germans had lost control of Greece due to two groups of primary Greek forces (The EAM-ELAS and EDES). The two primary groups are not friends so after they fought of the Germans, the EAM-ELAS set up their own government in the Greek mountains.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>December 3, 1944- </strong>The Greek Civil War started because the British thought they could bring both groups to Athens and come to an agreement for a coalition government where they would have to work together. This government only lasted a couple weeks because the communist did not want to disband their guerrilla force (their individual group).          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>September</strong>/<strong>March, 1946- A general election was held after communist lost. The communist were not allowed to vote until the plebiscite was held where everyone in the country could vote. The country helped get the Greek king back on his throne. Next, the communist went and started a war. The British couldn't hold them off so the U.S government had to step in and unleash the Truman doctrine.</strong></div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>In 1949</strong>, the rebellions stopped  due to the U.S funding the Greek army that later fought off all the rebels who fled to Albania. 50,000 soldiers died ad 50,000 Greeks were displaced due to the place being a total wreck.</div>]]></description>
