         <description><![CDATA[<div>How many marbles must be dropped on a glass pane before it cracks or shatters?<br>Independent variable- amount of marbles dropped<br>Dependent variable- crack or not<br>Control- type/size of marble, distance from glass, type of glass, <br><br>Materials: yardstick/ruler, marble, glass panes, catapult/launching device<br>Step 1: place a glass pane on ground. Make sure the glass is placed at a consistent area if it needs to be moved. The pane must be flat on the floor, or held parallel, depending on which will provide better results.<br>Step 2: have the marbles needed for dropping. They must be the same mass. <br>Step 3: hold marble above glass at a set distance. Make sure the force applied to the marbles is consistent.<br>Step 4: Drop first marble. Record the state of the glass, the force applied to marble, and amount of marbles used thus far. <br>Step 5: repeat the procedure until marble breaks through the glass. </div>]]></description>
