Something that many Hijabis (nickname for females that wear scarves) get asked is "Can you speak English?". The assumption that we cannot speak english because we are Muslim is a little degrading. Most of us have been born and raised here and even if they were an immigrant, many of their home countries taught them English at school. So it is better to assume that we can indeed speak English.

We Muslims celebrate Eid two times a year. Once after the month of Ramadan to celebrate a month of fasting and the next is a little over 2 months after which is to celebrate pilgrimage. In simpler terms Eid is our Christmas. We give children gifts, visit relatives, eat sweets, dress up, receive money sometimes. Some people go out to places as a family and some cities throw Eid Parties that so many muslims of different races cultures come together and participate in. In my family we usually get a bounce house for the kids and open up the pool because its usually hot. Everyone enjoys themselves. Eid usually lasts 3-6 days.

“The month of Ramadhan [is that] in which was revealed the Qur’an, a guidance for the people and clear proofs of guidance and criterion. So whoever sights [th`e new moon of] the month, let him fast it; and whoever is ill or on a journey – then an equal number of other days. Allah intends for you ease and does not intend for you hardship and [wants] for you to complete the period and to glorify Allah for that [to] which He has guided you, and perhaps you will be grateful.” (Quran: 21:85)

While this story manly focuses on African American communities and police brutality, there is a line that I believe relates to many minorities in America. It states, "I can't change where I come from or what I've been through, so why should I be ashamed of what makes me, me?" (pg. 441). This quote speaks for many minorities who can sometimes feel ashamed of who they are and where they came from.

In this exhibit I hope to inform you about the realities of the Muslim Community. The media often portrays a harmful image of Muslims and claim this is how the majority actually are, when in actuality this isn't the case. I have presented pieces that explain what many Muslims are experiencing. Hopefully, this exhibit becomes your eyes into the other side. Thank you and enjoy.

This story Tell Me How it Ends is an essay in 40 forty questions. This book talks about the immigration process happening between the U.S and Mexican Border. In the book it states, "Why did you come to the United States? Perhaps no one knows the real answer." (chapter 4).Many Muslims usually come from the Middle East, and at this moment so much of the Middle East is in chaos that they are trying to flee their home countries. They know why they are coming to the United States. They are refugees. But recently many of those refuges had the door shut on them, forcing them either to go back or to try and find some other country to flee to.
