This year I developed a fondness for volleyball, through the CCA. By playing with other people and doing fitness endorsing drills, I found myself wanting to improve my skills in the sport, and engage more with the players around.

After joining the green team CCA i learned to work more closely with others through doing different tasks. The CCA is made in order for students to appreciate their surrounding school environment and notice different environmental issues globally. In this CCA we worked collaboratively to draw attention towards different topics, for example when we made a presentation regarding how each bin in the canteen has a respective type of trash that can be in them, this was presented in an assembly. Recently, towards the end of term 3, we kicked off our plant box project. In this project, we would put together boxes and proceed to grow different crops in them. This project really brought the CCA together and we worked collaboratively to build the boxes with nails and wood, and we even further painted the boxes with vanish, soon enough we will start growing different things in them. This CCA helped me get more comfortable when working with other people.

Doing the green team CCA made me rethink an array of decisions I have made throughout my life and how they affect our ecosystem. Through discussing different topics such as global warming, deforestation, and pollution, I started to ponder whether the business I support helps conserve our environment or only further jeopardizes it. I began thinking of different ways that we may not only combat global warming but also protect the animals of our world. This CCA truly gave me a perspective shift.

New challenge

Around the middle of term 3, I was prompted to perform a snippet of my humanities debate in front of the whole of high school. I was frightened at first and came to the conclusion that I was probably not going to go through with it. But through the motivation of my teacher and my peers I as able to overlook this anxiety. We kicked off the rehearsals and after practicing it the first time I was discouraged once again but I couldn't turn down the offer just yet. By the time we did the second rehearsal, I was more confident, this is when i finally decided that I was going to do it. Came the day of the debate and as i was waiting i felt this unbearable anxiety, constantly reminding myself that this too shall pass. As I got up with my palms sweaty, and trotted onto the stage, I felt my fears dissipate as i looked amounts the crowd and witnessed faces that supported me. Through this challenge, I realized that, no matter how grand a task may seem, there are always people helping you overcome it. Always remember that this too shall pass.
