B - I was inspired to alter the shape of some letters to emphasise their characteristics from letter ‘B’. This is because due to the irregularities of the components in the pieces, it makes it harder to distinguish the desire shape. 

F- From looking at the letter 'F' compared to the others I noticed a difference in size so I ensured to alter all the pieces to match one another. 

P- The letter 'P' made me question the backgrounds opacity so originally I got rid of it however, lowering its opacity was nicer as the pages looked to blank without it. I did however, decide to enlarge the backgrounds to cover the piece so that they are more full to frame as well as unique.

T- The letter 'T' made me reposition some of my pieces to fit better and more central to frame as some pieces in compositions are bigger than others. 

I started this by finding a title that is able to portray the contents of the book, monograph means a personal illustrated life. 

I also put my favourite illustrated pieces from the book on the front cover so that people can see the sport of style that is inside. 

I decided to make the illustrations transition from a sketch to the final outcome because both styles are found in the book and it shows how much work has gone into the book. 

 

I figured that the important part of the book was all of the illustrations rather than the reasoning's so I decided to find ways to present them.  

I started with the classic poster I made earlier which works well however I also thought that the book cover could work nicely with the piece so that you know it is a monograph. I also thought about changing the poster background to be the beige colour in the book to link them in nicely as well as portraying the initial sketches directly onto the table so people can see where it all began as well as the final pieces. As of my exhibition research I also thought about presenting the pieces digitally so I decided to have a white board slideshow that would slowly cycle through the final pieces. Finally, I thought about having the piece on a string so that it was a stand along piece on a wall however, it would be hard for a lot of people to see it. 

For the book itself I thought about portraying it on a pedestal and a table. Overall, I think pedestal is better because it is easier for people to flick through and not have to pick up the book as it is the right height.

From doing all of this I think that the top right exhibition is the best because the book is on a pedestal, you can see the books front cover, and all of the final pieces are portrayed as a poster for anyone to see at anytime.

 

Within the window section of InDesign I was able to select other useful subheadings such as layers which allowed me to put writing on a separate image to pictures to help with moving areas around. 

After I used the rectangle frame tool to add a reference for the photo on the right hand page. 

After I placed the desired shape I was able to select it and press ‘Ctrl +D’ to paste in an image which will fill the frame. I then proceeded to press ‘Object, fitting, and fit content proportionately’ which scaled the image down until one two of the sides touched the edges of the frame. 

For the text I was bale to alter various properties such as kerning, font size and type face to help make the writing look well fitted to the page. 

 

However, the page still stood out because it is a whole page to itself meaning that it was too plain for the eye to admire. The main issue with it is how blocky it all is with no negative space and layers. 

 

Theoretically I shrunk down the last page and put it in the bottom right hand corner while still being lined up with the letter on the left page. However the piece still looked flat because of the solid colour in between each of the pieces of writing. 

For the title I wanted to add a line of colour behind it which will link to the picture on the other page. However, I also made the title a line art so that you could see the colour through it but it creates a lot of negative space at the top of the page. 

 

I also decided to add the sketch on the left page to keep the background colour flowing through while not being a block flat colour. This also broke up the heavy levels of text on that page. 

I edited the writing to be in two different formats so that the viewer doesn't get bored reading it as two clear paragraphs. 

Finally, I edited the title font to match the blockiness of the rectangle going through it, as well as filling it in so that there was less negative space at the top of the page. 

 

From looking at previous designs I also knew that I didn’t want a page full of writing as it becomes plain to the eye. I decided on putting the initial sketches into the book because a sketch shows the beginning of a story which is fitting for a book. 

The colours I collected earlier on were in case I needed colour in an area but it wasn’t a definite usage. I ended up deciding on adding them because I wanted to add detail to the title without complicating the font as well as wanting to break up the white boarder that was forming around the sketch. 

The font I chose for the title is quite blocky because I wanted it to be a statement piece as they are highlighting the first letter of the alphabet as well as defining the image. I did however also add a black drop shop at 35% opacity to make it lift from the page. 

The font for the writing is also very plain because I didn't want it detouring from the artwork which is the main feature. 

For placement on the page I ensured that everything lined up with one another so that it pleases the eye and allows it to flow. There is also even spacing between pieces so that they nothing looks cramped and forced into place. 

 

 

I started by saving the images as PDFs instead of JPEGs for better resolution so that they are crisp for the eye. 

Thankfully I didn’t need to make any other alterations because the pieces came out really nicely. 

The pieces have a glossy finish to them which makes the colours pop even more and stand out like on the iPad. The prints are also on thicker paper which allows for them to have solidity to them and look like a finalised piece.
