Holidays. Brilliant, but also time for working on everything school. Planning, prepping, assignments and add in family. Easy as :) Time to keep creating! I keep seeing these fabric elephants coming up on my Face book feed. They are so cute so obviously I will make one. And I did. It took me a little while to work out as I didn't have a pattern but only a picture. Searching on pinterest and youtube I eventually found something. I have made 3, given one away, the dog ate one and I have one left. I love being able to make things that I see. I don't let not having a pattern stop me. I will try everything once. It keeps the brain active. I want to be able to instil that into my students and classroom. Give it a go! What is the worst that can happen? It doesn't work oh well try again. Allowing students to feel confident to make mistakes is a really big part of gaining their trust and building confidence in them to want to try.

Within the Design and Technologies areas, Sustainability is the most consistent connection. It seems obvious that home ecers can link this into food specialisation but introducing this into textiles has been a bit more challenging. Understanding their own impact and perspective can be introduced through the "Fast Fashion" concept and how the world uses and disposes of textiles.

Equity and equality are areas that ICT can become the bridge between understanding and being able to be part of the classroom environment. By allowing students the availability and access to a digital pathway, you are increasing the success in your classroom. We all learn in our own ways and having opportunity to expand how we can achieve success if the type of pedagogy I want to share and develop.

Thank goodness for progress, this was a little hard to watch. Once upon a time Home Ec was perceived as a subject for home makers, but as the teacher explains the information that is taught is relevant to everyone. Food safety, nutrition, and many other factors. An interesting look at history and how much we have changed.

A great way to review your classrooms retention by playing a game of Blooket. This is a great tool for customising your terms focus and you can create a Blooket specifically for your students on nutrition, food groups or methods of cooking. The students enjoy the ability to rob each others points and the competitive side pushes students to interact at another level.

Another ICT tool for reviewing your curriculum and allowing the students to show their understanding. Kahoot can also be used for Brain Breaks on any topic allowing an interactive connection with ICT.

I found this resources on Amanda Nowells Padlet. I haven't used this before but the ability to pick the year level and area is a great tool to have available.
