I would make sure I would use a form of recasting so that he would want to use the correct language. He wanted to be the line leader, so I would get him to use the correct language by 1. modeling, 2. asking the group, "If you would like to lead the line today, you will need to say, "I would like to be the line leader." 3. Restating the correct way someone else says the sentence.
