Freud and Saville share similar qualities and styles in painting. Freud's work shares similar weight and style however considers the human form differently.

Jenny S produces heaviness in her work using soft brush strokes really focusing on femininity and the woman body. She focuses on enlarging features which are there already.

If you look closely at how the brush strokes LF uses very heavy brush strokes and uses bizarre textures to capture the prominent features of the person is observing.

Saville's work emits the style of Francis Bacon and uses a very traditional method to create the portrait. She expands the body and looks almost at physical trauma and body surgery. She does however seem to exploit areas that need to be bigger and make them so. She keeps her subjects in such a way that allows us to feel comfortable exploring the painting in depth. Saville has said that Freud was an inspiration to her to the public which would suggest that her style has been influenced by him.

Both Freud and Saville look at body image in an interesting way that explores heavy brush strokes and thick stylised technique.

Both have considered a grotesque theme and have a mixture of positive and negative reviews.

They both also looked at distortion of the body image.

They both in their time were quite controversial.
