         <description><![CDATA[<ul><li>The word Sikh means “disciple” </li><li>A disciple is a follower or student of the leader</li><li>The founder was Guru Nanak</li><li>Guru Nanak tought people that there was only one God to believe in and worship</li><li>Nanak put down a road to salvation, which was the practice of meditation </li><li>Nanak believed meditation would be released from the birth and death cycle</li><li>The cycle is referred to as samsara, which also refers to Nanaks beliefs of reincarnation </li><li>Nanak believed that the soul is born into the world many times before it is released to find its unity with God</li><li>This practice is similar with the Hindu beliefs</li><li>Nanak died in 1539 and had nine great successors</li><li>The last Guru was named Gobind Singh He lost all of his sons and then gave up on the succession of Gurus. </li></ul>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>1984 the Sikhs stayed in  Akal Takht in the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar. The Indian prime minister ordered a military assault on the complex. Ghandi was assainated later that year by her Sikh bodyguards. The attack sparked violence between the Sikhs and the central government. The conflict lasted until 1992. </div>]]></description>
