         <description><![CDATA[<div>The Armenian Genocide happened because a branch of the Young Turks formed a political party called the Committee of Union and Progress. This political group decided to go after Christian Armenians in the Muslim Ottoman Empire. It was estimated that roughly one million Armenians were killed or deported.</div>]]></description>

But, as we are seeing with recent developments, denial has become a dead end. The genocide, the forced exodus of Armenians from their centuries-old homeland, confiscation of Armenian properties and devalidation of Ottoman citizenship of Armenians are not fiction, but concrete facts." </em>Many countries kept silent about their opinions on this genocide because for foreign affair purposes. They also kept quiet so that they could maintain positive relationships with Turkey. </div>]]></description>

In 2015 government officials in Turkey offered condolences to the Armenian victims, but Armenians remained committed to having the killings during World War I recognized as a genocide."</em> Other countries have also denied that this event was a genocide to keep Turkey happy. Turkish government officials have offered sympathy to the victims, but Armenians remained devoted to having these mass killings recognized as a genocide. </div>]]></description>

During Abdul Hamid II's reign, the conflict between the Armenian and the Turks in the Ottoman Empire came to a head." </em>Armenians never had it easy when it came to government approval.          <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>A book called Genocide In Modern Times: The Armenian Genocide written by Jeri Freedman</strong><mark> informs the reader that</mark> <em>"The government claimed that the Armenians were in a league with the Russians and that they were a threat to the country's security. In light of the propaganda, World War 1 provided the Ottoman government with the perfect opportunity to rid itself of the Armenian Christians whose presence in the empire had bothered it for so long. In 1915, the government issued an order stating that Armenian Christians had to be eliminated." </em>The government thought that Armenians were is a special league with Russians and therefore a threat to the country's secutiry. The rest of the world was focusing on World War 1, so it gave the Ottoman government an opportunity to eliminate all the Armenians.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>A book called Genocide In Modern Times: The Armenian Genocide written by Jeri Freedman</strong> <mark>also reports that</mark> <em>"In May 1915, the Ottoman government passed the Temporary Law of Deportation. This gave the government legal authority to deport Armenians at will, simple by declaring them to be suspected of treason... Once the Armenians were removed, all of their property was seized by local Turks and any money they kept in banks was taken by the government."</em> In order to get rid of the Armenians without killing them, was to deport them. They passed the Temporary Law of Deportation in May 1915. This started the elimination and seizing of all Armenians.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div><strong>A book called Genocide in Armenia by Jeri Freedman and Zoe Lowery</strong> <mark>suggests that</mark> <em>"On April, 27, 1915, the U.S. government appealed to the Turkish government to take steps to stop killing the Armenians. Turkish government officials told the U.S. State Department that it would not be allowed to send Red Cross doctors or nurses to help the Armenians... In response, in October 1915, the United States sent a message through Ambassador Morgenthau to the Turkish government. If the Turks continued to engage in the atrocities against the Armenians, Morgenthau wrote, it would 'jeopardize the good feeling of the American people toward Turkey'" </em>The U.S. tried to stop the genocide but Turkish government officials told the U.S. government not to help the Armenians. The U.S. replied by saying if the Turks did not stop, American people would not have positive feelings toward Turkey.</div>]]></description>
