There was protectorates and agreements made but nothing stayed.

The fighting continued until WWII when the United Nations stepped in and made Somali a United Nations trust territory until it was officially formed,

-He remained president until 1967 when his formed Prime MInister, Abdirashid Ali Shermarke defeated him in the election.
-Shermarke was assassinated in 1967 and Muhammed Siad Barre took over as president. 1970 Barre had declared Somalia a socialist state. He acted as a dictator for over 20 years, but in 1991 he was forced out of power during a civil war.
-Somalia had no government for 9 years and was controlled by powerful clan leaders and rich people.
- In 2000 clan leaders elected Adnulkassim Salat Hassan president. This government was not accepted.
-In 2002 Abdullah Yusuf was elected as president of a new transitional government hoping it would be accepted.
-In 2012 a formal parliament is sworn in and the transitional period is over Hussan Sheikh Muhamud is elected president. First democratic election since 1967.

It has continued to terrorize Somali people by taking control of large areas, not accepting help from organizations like the United Nations and continuously fighting with any Somali form of government. 
A lot of young people join Al-Shabaab as it seems like a good option since they pay and feed their fighters. 
Al-Shabaab is not as strong as it used to be but continues to be a terrifying factor in Somali life.

The UIC was a group of the Sharia Courts that united themselves to fight against the transitional government of Somalia.

By December 2006 Ethiopia agrees to help Somalia get back Mogadishu.
