      <description>The recipient of a bachelor&#39;s degree in psychology from the University of Maryland and a masters degree in dance therapy from New York University, Margaret Byrne began her career as a dance and movement therapist at the Connecticut Valley Psychiatric Hospital and later earned a doctor of medicine (MD) and masters degree in physiology from Georgetown University. Upon earning her MD, Margaret Byrne completed an internship at Fairfax Hospital in Vienna, Virginia and a three-year residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Washington Hospital Center. 

In 1992, Dr. Margaret Byrne began working as a physician at the Columbia Hospital for Women, where she managed pregnant women through labor and delivery. She also provided medical care in the clinic and performed surgeries as well. After four years with the Washington, D.C.-based hospital, she launched her solo practice, which she managed until 2010. Dr. Byrne presently serves as a physician with Dallas, Texas&#39; Censeo Health as well as a bereavement counselor with Capital Caring Hospice. 

A strong proponent of holistic care with an emphasis on psychological and spiritual well-being, Dr. Byrne also spent 14 years as a resident teacher at the Vajrayogini Buddhist Center. She continues to practice Kadampa Buddhism and is a member of the New Kadampa Tradition International Buddhist Union.</description>
