I feel that NS 100 didn't change my thinking on the topic. I have always had a good understanding of science as a whole.

One thing I did realize was how more in-depth science was. During the natural selection lab, I was made aware of how specific scientists had to be to fully understand what they were studying.

I will continue to grow in knowing the meaning of science by always keeping my mind open when it comes to the topic. I hope to always try to fully grasp whatever science concepts I am reading about.

Before NS 100, I was not that aware of the scientific method. I had heard about it in my high school science classes, but I never fully understood it before this class.

After interviewing a classroom teacher for the science assignment analysis, I learned how important it was for students to learn about the scientific method. She made a great point that it helps students understand the process of failure and the importance of trying again.

I will continue to grow in my knowledge of the scientific method by using it whenever I can. I want to use it during science activities with my students so I can fully utilize the scientific method.

Before NS 100, I was vaguely familiar with what life is and its characteristics. We covered it briefly in biology, but we never went as in-depth as this class.

My thinking about what life is has changed because I am now aware of how many things are classified as life and what life needs to form. After watching Life on Earth, I was made aware of what life needs in order to form and I did not know how absolute everything needed to be.

I will continue to grow in this topic by doing more reading about what life is and what it means. I will also try to identify things I encounter in my daily life as living things to better understand their characteristics.

Before NS 100, I didn't realize how big an effect little things had on the bigger picture. I was aware of the butterfly effect, but not the role it played in science.

Going through the Recent Adaptations in Humans slide deck, I learned that a small genetic mutation causes such a daunting disease like Sickle Cell Anemia. It was interesting to find out what such a small thing can do to a body with a strong immune system.

I will continue to grow in this topic by pointing out things that were caused by such small changes. I think it will help me grow in my world view.

NS 100 made me more aware of the different components that make up the scientific perspective.

After watching the Neil Degrasse Tyson video, I was able to see science as more of a dominant force in the modern world. It astonished me the amount of people who do not take it seriously.

I will continue to grow in this topic by constantly absorbing scientific information to further impact my scientific perspective. I have developed an interest in analyzing other people's scientific perspectives.

Before NS 100, I didn't know how important it was to teach science in depth. I am now aware of the impact it has on our students.

While interviewing the teacher I work with for the science assignment analysis, I got a really good insight into the importance of teaching science in a classroom. It really opens up young minds and teaches them how to think for themselves.

I will continue to grow in this topic by observing more science lessons and noticing when students are having aha moments. I will also do my best to adequately teach science in my future classroom.
