Since they are richer, there would be more economic damage simply because there is more to break and disrupt. The social impacts would be less than LEDCs becase they have better infrastructures, organisation, and funds in the case of a destructive hazard.

LEDCs like sichuan, don't have the resources and money to withstand and prepare for an earthquake. So houses are built poorly, therefor collapse easily. MEDCs like japan have the money and resources to prepare for an earthquake.

In an MEDC, the biggest effect of an earthquake will be the economic impact from destroyed infrastructure. In an LEDC, the biggest effects will be the social impacts because many people will die, be injured, or become homeless due to the poorly constructed buildings.

LEDS are less well equipped to handle disasters like earthquakes as they have less access to money and infrastructure that could successfully negate the effects of earth quakes. You can see this in the Sichuan and Tohoku earthquakes as the MEDC handled their higher magnitude earthquake with less causalities than the Sichuan earthquake

The impacts of an earthquake differ in LEDCs and MEDCs because the population density is different. For example, LEDCs have a smaller population compared to MEDCs. This could mean that the number of causalities are lower in LEDCs compared to MEDCs. However, that is not always the case. In the Sichuan (LEDC) earthquake in 2008, the death toll was higher than the Tohoku (MEDC) in 2011. This is because of the lack of technology and communication in the LEDC compared to the MEDC. Because of the less-developed technology, rescue teams were not able to arrive quickly and save lives.

Buildings and houses in LEDCs would more likely be destroyed by an earthquake as they are poorly built.

LEDC is a less economically developed country where MEDC is a more economically developed country. Some countries like China have not experienced earthquakes a lot which means they don't have the facilities or plan to solve it and help people recover.

MEDC have money to invest in an effective warning system and buildings infrastructures. They also have money on educating the public on hazards with regular drills.
