Art Nouveau (approx 1880s - 1910s), I love how it takes inspiration from nature and organic forms, which would not have been as popular until then due to the influence of the industrial revolution. I think Alphonse Mucha is a great representation of this style, and one of my favourite artists!

I know it's really weird, but drawings/sketches/illustrations of fashion catalogues from the 20th century are very lovely to me. I don't know if it counts but I love the loose feeling of them and the way they colour them. The way the bodies are sculpted in relation to the clothing is really pretty.

Dad's side: essentially entirely Irish, with some English.
Mum's side: Great Grandmother's family immigrated from Europe to Australia around the early 20th century I believe. So European-Australian. My Great grandmother married a second time when my biological great grandfather died in the second world war, and married a Jamaican man, so I personally do not have Jamaican ancestry but I have a lot of Jamaican aunties, uncles and cousins that mostly live in the UK. I've called them a couple times and talk over text, but I'd love to meet them all someday.

As someone that loves sewing and drawing, I totally get it! There is actually a lot of work that goes into them to make sure they show all the important features of the garment and how it moves, while still being simple enough that they can be done fairly quickly :)

From what I know of Iceland (through comedians like Ari Eldjárn, watching documentaries, reading about travel in Iceland), it seems to be a country that is a bit quirky, has a zany sense of humour and doesn't take itself too seriously. Plus the history is really interesting.
I've also enjoyed films that have come out of Iceland in recent years (Rams comes to mind).

I think I would like to travel back to the Early Modernist period in Europe. Life was changing, incredibly quickly. I think it would have been an exciting time to be living in. I would be a tourist and only visit as I would not be keen to stick around for WWII and its' aftermath.

Glenn Colquhoun is from NZ. He is a writer and a poet. I’ve been reading a short book of his called ‘Late Love - Sometimes doctors need saving as much as their patients’ Basically him reflecting on his career and medicine in NZ. Part essay, part poetry.

The Second sex by Simone de Beauvoir - such a great read, its very heavy but it's so well written, and is very informative.. it's a beautifully written feminist piece. It was written in 1949.

Simone de Beauvoir is also seen as one of the leaders of the existentialist movement!
