Parents meet 1993

My parents first met in 1993 at the Y in Lafayette, In. At the time both of my parents had graduated college from Purdue. My parents were on opposite side of the Volley Ball net getting ready for the match. My dad trying to be friendly smiled at my mom, but when my mom tells the story she describes it as "some creepy guy from the other team smiled at me." My dad at the time of the game had a girlfriend but decided to break up with her by the end of the week before they both were supposed to move to Pennsylvania. Somehow my dad got the house number of my mom's parents house in NY. My Dad called her and told her he was throwing a New years eve party and invited her. She said yes, and the next day she started the 10hr drive back to IN. My dad had to hastily throw a New years Eve party before New years eve, which was in 2 days. So panicking as he found that all of his friends had already committed to other parties, he invited many of his Ex Girlfriends. When my mom showed up to the party my dad greeted my mom at the door and then refused to talk to her the entire night. My dad says it was for her own good because if he did talk to her his Ex's would turn on her and become nasty to my mom because they wanted to get back with my dad and didn't want competition. When my mom tells it she says she was very confused because she thought my dad liked her but he refused to talk to her the entire night, but the other girls there were nice. I've never heard what really happened in-between but in December of 1994 my parent got married and have been married for 30 years this December.

Decision to move to CA

In 1995 my Dad got a job offer from Baltimore Air coil in Ca. At the time my parents were living in In. My Dad hastily took the job and told my Mom they were moving to Ca. My Mom was not excited at all. My Dad's motivation for moving to Ca was growing up, the way people measured success in life, in In, was if you moved to Ca, or Fl. So my Dad really wanted to move to Ca. My mom said the only way she would move Ca was if they moved back after a few years and he agreed. My Dad left first and a few months later my Mom followed. They lived in an apartment off of Del Mar and San Jose, (my Dad still knows the Landlord and some of the tenets who lived there, one of the guy's there makes the bus routes and schedules for Fresno Unified...so that's cool.) My Mom eventually found a job working for Nipco as a cost accountant. She left Nipco after a couple years and went to Netafim. After 4 years working at Netafim she met some of her lifelong friends. In 1999 my parents decided to stay and bought a house on the other side of Maroa and have lived there ever since.

Decision to Go to Yokomi

When I was in 3rd grade I had to opportunity to go to Manchester because I had made it into the gate program, but my brother didnt. So my mom refused to send me there because she didnt want to have to drive to two different locations to drop us off. However Yokomi was a newish school with a gate program and had a non-gate program that my brother could attend. In the spring of my 3rd grade year my brother and I both toured the school, we both thought it was weird because it was an indoor school and a two story school. Despite that my brother and I both decided to go there. I remember the night before school started I had a terrible nightmare about getting lost in the school. After the first day of school my brother and I began to ride the Bus. We would get picked up at our old school (Gibson) and get bussed down to Yokomi. On the bus I met one of my Best Friends, Clark. At Yokomi I met Michael and Victor. I still hang out with Michael, but Victor and I dont share any classes. Bissetti and Max also went there. After my 4th grade year there I fell in love with the downtown area and the school. I also had a goal to get into Computech because it was the best middle school and students from Yokomi had a high acceptance rate from Computech.

Buying My First Car

When I was 15 my Dad bought a 1969 Dodge Super Bee. After he brought it home I decided that I wanted a car of my own that was as old as his. So I searched for about 6 months and found an Edsel. It is a 1959 Edsel Ranger. I purchased it from a guy in Utah and spent about a year getting it to run. During the course of getting it running, I learned a lot about cars and discovered a passion. I have been taking the Edsel to car shows in and near the Fresno area and have found a group of people who share my same love of cars. Buying an Edsel so far has been the greatest experience of my life because it taught me so much. It taught me hard work, how to deal with frustration, and how to think big picture.
