The first day of the course was dedicated to the tourist tour of Bologna.

We visited:

Two towers (La due torri): traditional symbol of Bologna, strategically standing where the old Aemilian way entered the town. Today they stand right in the middle of Porta Ravegnana square, but this does not correspond to their original layout, which included wooden buildings all around their base and hanging passageways. The Asinelli Tower is 97.20 meters high with a drop of 2.23 meters and inner staircase of 498 steps completed in 1684. The Garisenda Tower, built around the same period, is much smaller (47 meters) with a steeper drop (3.22 m) due to an early and more marked subsidence of soil and foundation.

Corte Isolani: This gallery is a charming shopping venue that mixes commerce with art and culture. Located inside Palazzo Isolani, a historical mansion built in the years 1451-1455, Corte Isolani is open to passers-by and links a series of inner courtyard with the Casa Isolani on Strada Maggiore and Palazzo Isolani in piazza Santo Stefano.

Piazza di Santo Stefano: is one of the most peculiar places in Bologna. Even though it is a mainly considered as a square, it is not properly this. Via Santo Stefano widens to create this peculiar area that leads to the monumental group of buildings named after Saint. From Piazza Santo Stefano the ancient road to Tuscany may be taken. This group of churches is mainly known as “seven churches” as it is formed by seven holy buildings built and renovated during different periods, mainly on behalf of the patron Saint of Bologna, St. Petronio.

Piazza Maggiore: the main square and the hart of town. Piazza Maggiore has been the center of Bologna's political and social life since the 13th century when the square and the buildings surrounding it began being built. It is one of the biggest and oldest squares in Italy. The square was also home to one of Europe's biggest open-air market until mid-1800s, with good coming from all parts of the world.

The Basilica of San Petronio: Construction began in 1390 for what was supposed to become the largest church of the Christian world. The project had to be abandoned because the Pope did not like the idea of a church bigger than St. Peter's in Rome. Regardless, San Petronio remains one of the largest Catholic churches in the world.

Fontana del Nettuno: the famous fountain by Flemish sculptor Giambologna was built in 1564 and deemed scandalous for its nudities. It is dedicated to the Pagan God Naeptune whose trident heresy. The fountain had a practical function as it was used by the citizens to collect water.

Palazzo del Podesta: It was the first seat of the government. From the balcony were announced the local government's decision and death sentences.

Church of Santa Maria della Vita: was founded in the second half of the 13th century by the Congregation of Battuti or Flagellati, whose name refers to their custom of flagellating themselves. Santa Maria della Vita has been managed by Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Bologna since 2006 and at present is part of the cultural, artistic and museum itinerary.

Great Hospital of Life and Death

After interesting tourist attractions we went to dinner and closer acquaintance.

Other participants have to figure out what fact is false.

After that, course leader Francesco Tarantino presented us plan and program of course, methods and rules. We talked about our expectations of course.

The next theme was competence. Competences are combination of knowledge, skills and attitude. We had several very interesting competency-related activities. Key-competences are those which all individuals need for personal fulfill.

Eight key-competences for lifelong learning are:

Communicating in a mother tongue

Communicating in a foreign language

Mathematical, scientific and technological competence

Digital competence

Learning to learn

Social and civic competences

Sense of initiative and entrepreneurship

Cultural awareness and expression

Next theme was Neuro linguistic programming basics. We completed Learning/Communication Styles Self-Assessment questionnaire. The VAK learning styles model suggest that most people can be divided into one of the three preferred styles of learning: visual, auditory and kinesthetic. Some people find that their learning style may be a blend of the two or three styles. When you know your preferred learning style(s) you understand the type of learning that best suits you. There is no right or wrong learning style.

The last theme of the second day was Leadership. We discussed what qualities the leader should have, how he/she should behave, what is leadership. At the end of the lecture we looked at the video:

Third day started with morning warm up. We was separated in few groups and we have to write or draw what we did yesterday.

Our first theme was Vision. We had to draw our current reality and our desired new reality. Vision therefore does more than provide a picture of a desire future; it encourages people to work, to strive for its attainment. Vision is a compelling picture of the future that inspires commitment.

“Right vision" has five characters:

Attracts commitment and energizes people

Creates meaning in workers' lifes

Establishes a standard of excellence

Bridges the present to the future

Transcends the status quo

Second theme was Leadership styles.

Lewin's leadership styles are: authoritarian, participative and Laissez-fari leadership. Gleman's leadership styles are: visionary, coaching, affiliative, democratic, coercive and pacesetting. Coercive and pacesetting styles are not so positive. Other four styles promote harmony and positive outcomes.

We did many excellent activities: Number race, The geese, Self-evaluation on behaviours in a team work, The human knot, Puzzle, Tower, The helium stick, Crossing the river…. All of the activities show us how team must work.

We discussed about groups. Group characters are: group has 2 or more people, they have common goals, independence, self definition, face to face interaction…

Elements that are fundamental for the existence and usability of a team:

Understanding

Support and trust

Positive atmosphere

Mutual respect

Communication

Flexibility

Commitment to common goals

Available resources

Diverse and complementary abilities

Open-mind

Motivation

Shared value

Passion

Share the responsibility

Empathy

Fun and humor

The 8 C's for the team building (turning a group into a team):

Clear expectations

Commitment

Competences

Control

Collaboration

Communication

Creativity

Coordination

At the begging of fourth day first we remembered what are we talking about yesterday.

After that we discussed about what is entrepreneur. The entrepreneur is an individual who takes initiative to bundle resources in innovative ways and is willing to bear the risk and/or uncertainty to act. Being entrepreneur today include: involves creation process, requires devotion of time and effort, involves rewards of being a entrepreneur and requires assumption of necessary risk. Successful entrepreneurs are independent individuals, intensely committed, who work very hard. They are confident optimistic who strive for integrity. They burn with the competitive desire to excel and use failure as a learning tool. Phases of the entrepreneurial process are: identify and evaluate the opportunity, develop business plan, find required resources and manage the enterprise.

Entrepreneurship and innovations are keys to economic development. There are three types of innovations:

Ordinary – new products with little technological change

Technological – new products with significant technological advancement

Breakthrough – new products with some technological change

Entrepreneurs in particular situation may think differently when faced with a different task on decision environment. Entrepreneurial mind-set involves the ability to rapidly sense, act and mobilize, even under uncertain conditions. Entrepreneur must leans from business failure.
