This God asked him to rebuild the churches. Saint Francis sold his father's horse and his clothes to rebuild a church. His father took him to the bishop claiming that his son was insane. Saint Francis told the bishop of his vision of God. The bishop explained to Saint Francis that he needed to pay his father for the donkey and the clothes. Saint Francis replied by taking of his clothes and saying that these clothes were his father's so he could not wear them. He told his father and the bishop that God was the only father he recognised. Saint Francis did many miracles but two of them were: he healed a crippled man's son because they offered him hospitality, he also healed, another tale is of a paraplegic that made the sign of the cross in front of Saint Francis  and he was healed.

After he was ordained he started a movement called the Knights of the Immaculate. It was said that whenever he had a meeting he would a statue of Mary with him. I believe that Saint Maximilian Kolbe chose to be a Franciscan Friar because he could relate to them because both the Franciscan Friars and him were poor and yet they both gave what they could I believe this also made him a good candidate to be a Franciscan Friar. He and other prisoners lived in horrific conditions. In 1941 a man from Kolbe's barracks had escaped, this resulted in the soldiers from chasing 10 random prisoners from the same barrack to starve in cell block 13. One of the men picked was Franciszek Gajowniczek pleading that he had a family. At this point Kolbe stepped in volunteered to take his place. Kolbe was starved and after 3 weeks only Maximilian Kolbe and three other prisoners were still alive. They were given a lethal injection. Franciszek Gajowniczek after he was release went to the Knights of the Immaculate and told them of what Maximilian Kolbe did. They both lived a life of poverty and they both started a religious movement/order. However Maximilian Kolbe was a martyr and Saint Francis wasn't a martyr. My reason for this is because you will have really bad food and you will probably not eating beef and some foods. The result of this can mean reducing your life span. Living a monastery will difficult doesn't if it is a Catholic one or not. You won't or have nearly access to video games, entertainment like movies and shows as well as you will have to live without some luxuries. You will be mainly helping out people or praying.
