Liberation is not ours (LLC's) to own. Everybody's path towards liberation is different and will have different hurdles and ways forward. Like a delta, we'll reach the ocean through many many smaller streams. We share our learnings through relationships and conversations like we are doing today.

Practicing play.. it's something so inherent.. a birthright, but it's getting lost. It's something we need to bring back. We need to keep practicing it and keep it as part of our lives. It's a personal journey and for me it's about getting out of my head and judgment. I've been playing with Improv and I'm having fun.
It takes practice in how to bring play back into my life, in the workplace and with my colleagues.

Play = games = rules = competition, but playfulness can also be really expansive, and being able to reinforce that to people.

One new-ish thing that LeadersTrust is trying is offering coaching for candidates before the interviews. This is something that we tried to offer for our new hires...

During the hiring and interview process, we are trying to unlearn some practices and create new ones. Some new practices we have incorporated are paying for candidate's time/project and having an elevator walk - someone from the team stays behind to answer any questions the candidate may have after the interview.

Liberatory leadership theory and practice invite us to lead from a place of love, wholeness, and interdependence. By valuing celebration over competition, we are able to access possibilities that can only emerge in community. The practice of liberatory leadership flourishes when we create space for rest, when we address power differentials in service of justice, and when we center those at the margins within our organizations and our work.
