The Ukrainian Ethnic Pieces in the library reminded me of manga and anime-style artworks. I loved the colours (especially the light blue and tones of white) that are used and the intricate clothing patterns.

The other artworks, such as poems, reminded of the fragility of life and struggles.

The common theme with all of the pieces is that they are stunning. Thank you for making our library (and minds:)) full of colour and beauty!

I was really touched by this exhibition. Some works shaped by the reality of war were moving and sometimes unsettling, images will stay with me for longer… Others, in Ukrainian ethnic style, were beautiful. I particularly liked the poster design for Kyiv, so full of power!

Thank you to all the artists for sharing your experiences and emotions with such honesty.

I was really moved by 'The Life of Virgin Mary'. Lines like 'the sun will be a smudge on the window of a cheap train' will really stay with me. I also love how these poems represent the lives of every day people that you will not always hear about on the news. Even when times are so dark it gives me hope to see people responding to the war artistically and voicing suffering, which no one should have to go through alone. I also think 'Flowers of Tomorrow' is a gorgeous piece of art, the colours and flowers are so beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Thank you so much for your creative work and for giving us the chance to engage with it here in Durham. I enjoyed every part, each in its own way. I spent quite some time reading the poems and looking at the accompanying images, which added an even more personal dimension to the poetry.

The second part was unsettling, but I think it was intended. Through the images you reminded me that the war is not over and that it is dreadful, but you also showed the strength that can be found in fury and anger.

And the third part introduced me to the vibrant colours and patterns of Ukraine, bringing joy and smile to my face.

I had the chance to visit the Unbreakable art exhibition, and it truly moved me. Seeing the students’ lived experiences of the war in Ukraine expressed through their artwork was both powerful and heartbreaking. Each piece told a story of pain, loss, and resilience, and it served as a stark reminder of what the people of Ukraine continue to endure. At the same time, it showed just how strong and unyielding they are in the face of such adversity. I left feeling humbled and deeply reflective - Thank you for sharing these pieces of art with us.
