Based on the information described in the video, what moral dilemma do self-driving cars create? the self driving car acts on decision not reaction

In your opinion, what type of "code" should self-driving cars have? (prioritize the driver's life, minimize damage, minimize harm to other drivers, etc.) Why? I think that they should try their best to stop and if they can not stop, hit the car in front of them.

  • How does the article you chose relate to the story "The Wretched and the Beautiful"?   The humans in the story do not like the aliens because they look different than them, so they choose not to help them.  This article states that humans don't like things that are different than them, they act different towards them. 
  • What findings discussed in the article are similar to what is discussed in the story? Cite a piece of evidence from the article to support your answer.  "Thus, innate factors, as well as learned processes, contribute to how humans respond to differences/otherness and what affects—e.g., interest (curiosity) or fear—are elicited. In other words, bias and prejudice seem to result from the impact of early learning and experiences on the affect system." This quote shows that learned factors play a big part in how humans react to different things.
  • In your own experience, are the article's findings accurate? Have you ever experienced or witnessed what the article discusses? I have felt some things that the article discussed. For example, the article states that humans tend to have different reactions towards things that look different than their own, and I relate to that.
