I thought that I was going to stay with my best friend, Edward, all the way to at least 8th grade. Covid stopped that from happening when we had to go online. That was a new experience for everyone, but I still saw him. The only difference was that it was through my Ipad screen. And then came 6th grade when we were all allowed back to school. I was elated because I would finally see my best friend in person for the first time in 2 years. Everything was great until I got the news that I would be coming here. I love it here at Heritage and it is an amazing school, but I just miss those days where I truly had someone to express myself around. Obviously, I still see him but not as I used to. From seeing him every single day of my life for 8 years to only seeing him on special occasions like birthdays and Halloween. Now, with high school coming soon, we may be able to see each other over the summer, but by that time it will be 2 more years since we really saw each other like we used to.

I understand that people want power, but is war really the solution? War hurts everybody. The attackers, the attacked, the neutra, ordinary citizens, children, and animals, just to name a few, are all affected by war. Take a look at what is going on in Ukraine in their fight against Russia. People have had to flee their homes because of the bombings that are taking place on their apartment buildings and cities. The citizens are always affected the most even though they have nothing to do with the actual war. Take a look at what is happening in Gaza right now. Hamas attacked Israel and they retaliated. Hamas was the intended target, but they are only a part of the problem. Children in Gaza can barely get water let alone food. Everybody for that matter. The fact that such minimal support is being put in place there is astounding. People are getting mortally wounded every day because of artillery strikes that could have been avoided in the first place had everybody been peaceful with each other. This is all very unnecessary and is hurting everyone around the world. If only we could all live in harmony…
