Hi! My name is Liz Carlyle and I'm the instructor for the class. Please call me Liz in this class! I am from England but I've lived in California for over twenty years now. I am English faculty at College of the Siskiyous.

One of my favorite moments was visiting my family in England. Covid meant I hadn't seen them for over two years! I flew back home over Summer and I had just the best time. My favorite moments were taking walks and just spending time with them. This is a photo of my mom, brother and nephew next to the river Thames, which had very high flows at the time. We had plenty of rain this summer in England!

one of my favorite memories is going to Crescent City, CA this Christmas and running from the waves and trying to climb rocks with a sprained ankle!

One of my favorite moments last year was traveling to San Luis Obispo to compete in State Finals for FFA.

This is a picture of me at Pismo Beach in San Luis Obispo, which is definitely one of my favorite places that I have ever visited.

I absolutely loved the area, and I hope to attend college there someday.

I also placed 13th high individual in the state of California for my contest.

I plan on majoring in Biology, and I hope to pursue Emergency Medicine with this degree.

I was born and raised in Tulelake CA, and continue to live here.

My favorite moment of 2023. was my grade night the school had rented out a YMCA building for us. They had casino night, bull riding(blown up), dutch bros, laser tag, and they had family feud. The whole night I was at the blackjack table just winning left and right. When we won we got these tickets for like a drawing of some cool things. I had gotten so many tickets but sadly didn't win anything.

Im majoring in Respiratory Therapy and Im here to get my Associates in science.

I have 3 cats and 2 dogs I would count myself as animal lover. I live in Oregon, I played softball all my life and now I play here for the College.

Hi! My name is Claire(: I am probably the youngest in the class, I am a junior and only 17 years old. In the future I would love to pursue nursing. 2023 was an amazing year and it was filled with so many fun adventures but the two highlights was when I went to a two week summer camp and backpacked for a week and rafted the other on the klamath. Last year we decided to travel more- this is my family and I in Destin Florida at Christmas time, and now we have started planning our next Christmas trip to a place we have never been! Hello, my name is Matthew Amatori, and I am from Sonoma, CA and moved to Siskiyou County over 4 years ago. Currently, I am working on two degrees, a Liberal Arts and Science (LAS) degree with an emphasis in Natural Sciences and an Environmental Science degree.

This past year I was able to work on several prescribed burns in different states, and for one of those assignments I was shipped off to Colorado to work in two different national forests. This video was taken outside of Lake George in the Pike-San Isabel National Forests. I always enjoy the opportunity to travel, so it's even better when I'm able to get paid for it.

Hello, my name is Jonathan Gaytan. I’m finishing up something I started many years ago, and that is getting my Administration of Justice degree. I should achieve that within the year. I’m originally from Southern California but spent many years in the Phoenix Az area, where I attended trade school to be a diesel mechanic.

One of my most memorable moments of 2023 was sharing this special moment with family and friends (photo above). After my wife suffered from 2 back to back miscarriages, we were blessed with a baby girl. Our baby girl was an answer to prayer!

Hi all, my name is Amanda but I go by Mandy. I am a single mom of 2 beautiful girls, ages 16 and 5. I also have 2 dogs, 3 cats and 4 fish. I am from a little town about 20 min west of Redding called French Gulch but after the Carr Fire, I moved to Redding. I am going back to school to further my Nursing degree.

I think one of my favorite memories this past year was when I was able to take my girls to see Santa. Here in Redding, there is a guy that for the past 10-15 yrs has dressed up as Santa so parents can take their kids to see him for free. He completely decorates his yard and garage like Santa's workshop and lets people get pictures for free. I think being able to see the look of delight and wonder on my girls' faces was the best moment of 2023.

My major is ADHS (Alcohol, Drug, and Human Services. I was born and raised in Siskiyou County! I love dirt track racing! Some of my favorite moments are from that experience. The adrenaline rush and excitement as well as long-lasting friendships I will always cherish. I also LOVE going to concerts. I have seen Billie Eilish, P!nk, Maroon 5, and Ed Sheeran just in the last couple years. I'm from Siskiyou County, born and raised. I'm working towards my Business Management degree. I have a 11-year-old daughter that is my reason for taking these classes, to be able to give her a better life, and to show her that you don't have to know exactly what you want to do right out of high school, it's alright to figure it out later. I'm a little animal crazy, we have more animals than anyone else in the family with 3 dogs, 4 cats, 7 chickens and our newest addition, a western hognose snake.

Wow, I thought this would be easy, but trying to choose just one memory from the past year is difficult. So many great things have happened this year, from my new job at a local school, to the trips my boyfriend and I took to get firewood (yes, those were fun!). But if i had to choose one, it would have to be the trip we took as a family to meet my boyfriend's family in Portland. We were in the car for 7 hours and took one of the dogs with us. The biggest of the three, and the youngest, i was so proud of him after this trip! We took a detour on the way back home, driving down the coastal highway to visit some of my family.

Hi! I’m Mack, like mac & cheese or big mac. I’m trying to get my associates in science to become an emt/paramedic. I’m from Macdoel, CA which has a population of 94 which I believe means there's more pet dogs in Macdoel than there are human residents. 2023 was a really hard year for me, but I’m hopeful for a better year this year. My name is Hnouchee Chue, but I like to go by Hnou (pronounced like the word new). I am from Macdoel, California and I attend Butte Valley High School. One of my favorite memories from last year was the summer. It was one of the best summers I've had in a long while. My school held an Upward Bound Summer Program and it was truly amazing. We got to meet new people from different schools and travel all over Southern California together, touring different colleges such as Humboldt Cal Poly, UCSC, Sonoma State, and Cal Poly SLO. We also got to go to fun places like the Santa Cruz Boardwalk, Monterey Bay Aquarium, and Disneyland. It brought me out of my comfort zone and I was able to make new friends. I also made lots of awesome memories I will always treasure.

Hey everyone! My name is Adam Frohwein and I am originally from Norco, CA, which is in Southern CA. The town is very horse friendly and is designed to be able to ride your horse all over town. I have lived in Siskiyou County since 2017 and have fallen in absolute love with the beauty that surrounds us.

My favorite memories of last year include climbing to the top of Castle Crags Dome Trail, surrounded by breathtaking views of nature. It was an unforgettable experience that filled me with a sense of awe and accomplishment. Another highlight was visiting the beach at Coos Bay and having impromptu camping adventures. These spontaneous trips brought me so much happiness and joy that has lasted long after the memories were made. You can call me him/he, by the way. I'm currently majoring in environmental science, and these outdoor experiences have only deepened my passion for protecting our planet. Can't wait to explore more of nature's wonders and share more stories with you all!

Hello everyone, my name is Jared. I am originally

from Southern California but now reside here in Siskiyou County with

my wife and 3 kids. The highlight of my year would have to be the birth of my son.

We have two daughters already but there is just something different about a father finally getting a son.

My major is Fire Science. I have been a fireman for over 10 years now and am currently

working towards finishing my degree. Finishing my degree will allow me the freedom to become a certified instructor here

in California and hopefully give me the opportunity to give back to the communities that have given me so much.
