First of all, pollution is the main factor that contribute to flash flood in urban areas. According to Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management, " pollution and the indiscriminate dumping of garbage into drains and waterways in the urban areas will increase flooding events. This increases the surface runoff and increases the urban areas vulnerability to flooding. Hence, pollution also can lead to long term effect such as repetitive flooding will happen after a heavy downpour especially in monsoon season. Therefore, pollution can be avoided from the government by improving the regulation and laws, this will help to reduce pollution which can prevent flash floods.

Group Hui Xin and Siu Synn

Firstly the factor that could lead to flash floods in urban areas is the lack of drainage in urban areas so the water cannot drain away from the area. Flash floods usually occurs when water overflows on or inundates land that is normally dry ( The Global New Light of Myanmar , 2018) . For example ,people do not throw their litters to the right place meanwhile they throw the litters where ever they want such as drains and road side. Hence, people throwing rubbish irresponsible could cause the stuck in the drain that will end up flash floods in urban areas occurs.

The first factor that can lead flash floods in urban areas is rubbish congested in the drainage system, usually it causes by human activities. One of the example would be Kuala Lumpur , recently it been major issue for people who are staying there however, the smart tunnel helps to reduce small portion of the floods but significantly not enough. (LOK ,2022). In conclusion, government should imply more strategies to reduce people from littering.

It is believed that rainfall is one of the factors that could lead to flash floods in urban area. According to The Star report Environment and Water Minister Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tun Man, "over half a month's average rainfall fell in single afternoon, leading to flash floods". This means that when continuously and unusually heavy rainfall occurred, the existing drainage system was unable to support the high flow of water. Therefore, it is evident that heavy rainfall could cause flash floods in urban area.

Flash flood is caused by poor cleaniness of drainage system in urban areas, poor cleaniness of drainage system can cause drainage to work less effecient as slit, garbage and other obstruction reduces the capacity of the drain system. For example,in Kuala Lumpur, bukit kemuning,2018,October,flash flood occurred due to the poor cleaniness of drainage system.leafs, plastics and others disposables were accumulated in the drainage system, causing a blockage, which leads to rainfall being trapped in urban areas. Therefore, flash flood can be caused by poor drainage cleaniness and obstacles might disrupt the efficiency of drainage system, causing it to fail.

Flash floods have been considered to be the most commoon natural disaster worldwide over the last decades. The factors that could lead to flash floods in urban areas are the lack of drainage, expanding development and higher intensity of rainfall. For example, in Johor Bahru there was an uncomplete establishment, and due to heavy rainfall flash flood occured. Therefore, it is evident that has caused a serious damage in urban areas.

One of the factors that could lead to flash floods in urban areas is deforestation. For instance, in the past few months, Kuala Lumpur had exposed to flash floods due to deforestation. As a result, this has greatly altered the landscape around the capital city. Therefore, it is evident that flash floods are usually cause by deforestation.

The first factor that could leads to flash flood in urban areas is the process of deforestation. Deforestation is defined as “the purpose of clearing forested land” (National Geographic Society). The main effects of deforestation is human cause which is wood extraction to produce domestic fuel or charcoal, this will result in decrease in forest areas across the world. This means that soil structure damage, there will be no trees to hold and increase soil erosion by rain and wind. Therefore, deforestation brings impacts to flash floods in urban areas.

The factor that could lead to Flash Floods in urban areas is when it is raining at the certain area continuously . This is because water comes higher area to the lower area . The river at the lower area and it will cause Flash Floods .For example , major road in Kuala Lumpur such as Jalan Ipoh caused civilian vehicles cannot passed the road. Therefore, we can overcome the flash floods with many ways and methods.
