Pictures</a> capture children’s attention while reading a story.</p><p>1. The name of the activity is Mia and the Monster.</p><p>2. The activity is reading a pictorial <a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://storybook.It">storybook. It</a> is about dressing in warm clothes during winter in order to go and play outside in the snow.</p><p><a rel="noopener noreferrer nofollow" href="http://3.In">3. In</a> this activity,there is vocabulary to use during winter; for example warm,snow,jacket,boots,hat,scarf,mittens,cold and dressed. The parts of the body are mentioned ;head,feet,neck, and hands.There is use of short sentences in the story that will also help in learning language.</p><p>4  The extension activity would be practising use of the learnt words and sentences as children get dressed up to go outside since it’s winter time.I will use a song”This is the way I put on my jacket ,put on my jacket, put on my jacket, to keep my body warm “</p><p><br/></p><p>Margaret.</p><p><br/></p>]]></description>

         <title>Mia and the Monsters: Staying Warm in the Winter</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>     The activity is about Mia and her friends who wants to play outside in the snow. Before going outside they need to dress warm clothes like hats, mittens, jackets, scarfs and boots to stay warm outside and have fun.</p><p>      The activity teaches or includes language learning because kids learn new words, it allows kids to imagine and think. When they listen, they can remember and tell the story again which help them practice their words and speech.</p><p>    </p><p>Extension:</p><p>    Ask the kids to pretend or  play the story using their  own warm winter clothes .This will help them remember the whole story and words use.          <title>Naulli kulu (naugli kublu)</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>1. The name of the activity is Naulli Kulu or in my dialect Naugli Kublu.</p><p><br/></p><ol start="2"><li><p>Naulli kulu is a song you sing and activity you can teach to kids, you sing the song and as you’re singing the song you play out your fingers as if both your thumbs are talking to each other like puppet play, the song continues for all fingers.</p></li><li><p>It teaches the children which finger is which on your hand in Inuktitut or English, eg. Thumb=Kublu or Pointer=Tikiq.  It also teaches children how to pretend play with your fingers as puppets and how to interact with one another. </p></li><li><p>An extension activity could be, drawing faces on your finger tips or using puppets, and make up a story or song with the kids using your fingers while also using the names of the fingers in either Inuktitut or English. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Caryn </strong></p><p><br/></p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <title>What do you hear.. Sounds of Nunavut cards</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>2.During circle time children are shown cards with various Nunavut animals and activities that happen around Nunavut. The kids will be then asked to make the animal sound or the activity sound. For example a picture of an Uqsuq truck, kids will make the vroom vroom sound, honking and tell the colours for the man at work.</p><p><br/></p><ol start="3"><li><p>This teaches kids to identify the animal or activity and make they sound or action. They will learn the names, sound and where the animals live. For example a seal is found in the sea, a wolf stay on the land. Children will get to imitate the way they walk like hoping like a arctic hare, fly like a raven.</p></li><li><p>Extension activity-I would invite a drum dance and they will drum the actions of how the animals walk. We will identify places and animals that we spoke about during circle time while we are doing out door activities. </p><p><br/></p></li></ol>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<ol><li><p>Reading the story Mia and the Monsters: staying warm during winter.</p></li><li><p>The children will sit in circles ready to listen to the story. The educator will read, narrate and act out the events in Mia and the monsters to make it engaging and fun. </p></li><li><p>By listening and watching the educator narrate and act the story out, the children connect words with the actions which helps them understand the meaning and develop their listening skills. They will  also learn new vocabularies. </p></li><li><p>After reading, it is also the perfect time for them to go for outdoor play. The educator will help the children gather all their outdoor stuff.          <description><![CDATA[<p><br/></p><p>1.The name of the activity: Sounds of Nunavut Cards</p><p><br/></p><p>2. In this activity, I will show the children  images of Arctic animals. Then the children will guess what sound each animal makes and try to imitate it.</p><p><br/></p><p>3.This activity teaches language by helping them learn different animal names and sounds. They develop listening and speaking skills while guessing and imitating the animals.</p><p><br/></p><p>4.For the extension activity. I will use Arctic animals puppets to do a puppet show. Children will guess the animals make their sounds, and take turns using the puppet to tell short stories.
