We read Martin's Big Words. We spoke about Martin Luther King's life. We spoke about freedom and love. We were able to retell about his life events. We were able to reasearch more about what his dream was and what he did to help the world be a better place. We recorded what we could do to make the world a better place. So, students were able to see how this book relates to real life.

We are learning about the War of 1812 in knowledge. To expand our knowledge on important historical figures at that time. We read these books and learned new vocabulary.

Happy Birthday Martin Luther King

With Martin Luther King being important person that we were learning about in our classroom, we discussed it even further with this book Happy Birthday Martin Luther King as well as Martins Big Words. Both of these books helped the students create their own “I have a dream ” idea as well as kindness cards to demonstrate MLK’s vision and impact. This was such a great way to extend learning about Martin Luther King into a great writing opportunity even in a prek classroom and even then they did such a great job of using this non fiction book to guide them in their creations.
