In the indigenous mind, the seven years war, the American revolution and the war of 1812 are all the same. A never ending struggle with the British, fighting to keep their land and culture alive. Despite this, the Native Americans jumped at the chance to ally themselves with the British in this war in the hopes that the ammunition given to them would be enough to defend their lands from the American colonizers attempting to steal their homes.

After the war of 1812, the indigenous never fought alongside the Americans again. They continue to attempt to preserve their land and culture and still honour Tecumseh as a hero. He represents intertribal unity, humanity in war and military leadership. In 2006 a commemorative coin was issued to preserve the legacy of Tecumseh.
