1. given that energy cannot be created nor destroyed, energy conservation is about saving it rather than eliminating it. one of the most effective methods is to turn things that need a lot of heat or energy down

2. some things are better to turn off completely, as they use energy even when not actively used. while it’s better to turn the heat down better than off (because some spaces need to be heated in some degree), many appliances and devices should be unplugged or switched off when not in use
