The day after the pearl harbor, America joined the second WW and on the 11th of December they declared war a multiple countries. The attack was a surprise however Japan and the US have been edging towards war for decades. The US were mad at japan for there increasingly aggressive attitude towards China. The Japanese believed that the only way to develop economically was to take over there neighbor's import market. To end the problem Japan invaded China leading to the Nanking massacre. Pearl harbor was an easy target because it was undefended at close to japan

A major reason for the bombing was that japan wanted to stop America from getting oil from Malasia. Another reason was that they wanted to stop the fleet of American ships. It also allowed them to conquer south-east asia without interference from Americas Navy

All food and drinks and gas were rationed in the USA ,this was due to the lack of essentianls as the Germans were sinking the supply ships carrying food and other things such as gas.Rationing had to be folowed by everyone, this meant that restaurants were closing rapidly and it created a huge economic crash. There were many fines for fake ration books or for having unmarked items, however the punishments are a lot less survier than those in Germany .

The role of women during WW1 is very similar to there role in WW2. During WWII worked in factories producing munitions, building ships, aeroplanes, in the auxiliary services as air-raid wardens, fire officers and evacuation officers, as drivers of fire engines, trains and trams, as conductors and as nurses. As well as this women around the age of 20 to 30 women worked as auxiliaries to the Armed Forces, Civil Defence, or war industries. Propaganda posters encouranged women to parcipitate in such works.
