What kinds of setbacks did your chosen person face growing up or in their professional career?

King faced many obstacles while on his mission for equality. He was arrested over twenty times for protesting. He was the object of several violent attacks, both to his person and his property. He received threatening phone calls, his home was bombed and set afire, and he was even stabbed.

How did they demonstrate all five parts of our P.R.I.D.E. (Perseverance, Reliability, Integrity, Drive, and Empathy) in overcoming those setbacks?

They demonstrated all 5 parts of P.R.I.D.E when overcoming those setbacks because he never gave up on his goal, equality was something he was truly passionate about, he cared and felt with those who were treated unfairly, he has strong principles and never opted into violence when protesting, and he was reliable because the truly wanted to do good in the world and he was a very respectful yet powerful man as he spoke.

What does/did your chosen person want their legacy to be?

MLK stated “I'd like somebody to mention that day that Martin Luther King, Jr., tried to give his life serving others”

With everything your chosen person has done or fought for, what is the main thing they want/wanted to be remembered for?

He wanted to be remembered as an advocate for peace and peaceful protests. He never once used violence as a way to combat societal problems and he wanted to spread the message that violence is not the answer.

Using your chosen person, research and explain an inspirational quote this person has said.

Quote: “Darkness cannot drive out darkness, only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate, only love can do that."

How is this quote consistent with what your chosen person believed in?

This quote really shows how MLK was a man of good morals and it shows how he truly believed that peaceful protests was the best way to deal with societal problems and overall just love in general.

How does this quote inspire you? How can this quote inspire others?

It inspires me because even with all the frustration and issues he must of had at the time, he was able to stick to his morals and he never resorted to violent and distasteful acts against the people who have wronged him. This quote can inspire others to the same because it would lead to the world becoming a more peaceful and loving environment rather than that violent and hateful one it is today.
