Places to visit:

Geirangerfjord

The Geirangerfjord is one of Norway's most visited tourist sites and has been included on the UNESCO World Heritage List, along with the Nærøyfjord, since 2005.

Along the sides of this magnificent fjord, there are a number of abandoned farms. The farms that are most commonly visited are Skageflå, Knivsflå, and Blomberg. Skageflå can also be reached on foot from Geiranger, while the others can only be seen from the fjord.

The fjord also has several impressive waterfalls. The two most notable waterfalls in the Geirangerfjord are ‘de Syv Søstre’ (the seven sisters) and ‘Friaren’ (the suitor, also called the wooer). The two waterfalls face one another across the fjord, and the suitor is said to be trying to woo the sister's opposite.

Brudesløret (the bridal veil) is another waterfall on the fjord, thus named because it falls delicately over one rocky edge, and when seen backlit by the sun looks like a thin veil over the rocks.

Trolltunga

Trolltunga is no doubt one of the most awe-inspiring cliffs in Norway, situated about 1,100 meters above sea level and hovering some 700 metres above Lake Ringedalsvatnet.

At the western edge of the Hardangervidda mountain plateau and near the town of Odda, Trolltunga (the troll’s tongue) and the valley below were carved out by an icecap that covered most of Scandinavia during a series of ice ages.

Bryggen

Bryggen, the old wharf of Bergen, is a reminder of the town’s importance as part of the Hanseatic League’s trading empire from the 14th to the mid-16th century.

Many fires, the last in 1955, have ravaged the characteristic wooden houses of Bryggen. Its rebuilding has traditionally followed old patterns and methods, thus leaving its main structure preserved, which is a relic of an ancient wooden urban structure once common in Northern Europe.

Today, some 62 buildings remain of this former townscape.

Oslo

The capital city of Norway was established in the eleventh century by Emperor Harald Hardråde.

In ancient times, the city was burned down several times, and each time it emerged more robust than before.

Oslo is considered a global city and the major Norwegian hub for trading, shipping and banking.

Location: Oslo is positioned at the northernmost end of the Oslofjord and occupies around 40 big & small islands within its limits.

The climate of the region is temperate and humid. Due to the pleasant weather, tourists visit Oslo throughout the year.

Most of Norway's government offices and buildings are in Oslo.
