I believe learning should be centered around each individual child. Teachers should use the students prior knowledge to adjust the lesson plans and curriculum to best fit their learning style and needs. It is up to the teacher to make sure the student is learning, not the student themselves because every child is capable, if the right strategies and learning environments are handed to them.

I believe teaching is a gift and if you have the ability to teach someone, you should not take it lightly. Teaching of any kind can impact someones life tremendously and as I go through my classes I hear more and more stories about the way someones life was affected either positively or negatively by their teachers. I hope to look back one day and know I was one of the positive ones.

I believe the purpose of schooling is to provide kids with not only the academic knowledge they need but also the social knowledge. I believe it is very important to teach students the fundamentals of the world and the knowledge they need to live their best life but i think its even more important to make school a place where kids can go and feel safe, welcomed, and where they can have fun.

I believe all my future students are important and different in their own ways. I want to value and acknowledge them in ways that will benefit them outside of the classroom. I want to keep my future students the center of my classroom and remember the real reason i am there. They are the reason I am putting in this work right now and they are the reason i am dedicating so much of my time so i can learn how to adapt and teach them to my best ability.

I believe students learn best when they are comfortable in their environment. I think this takes on many different meanings and values but over all the classroom should feel like a safe community. I think students who are able to feel loved, valued, safe, and understood inside the classroom are the ones who will be the most successful. It doesn't matter what their test scores are or if they're ahead or behind, if they feel a sense of community anything is possible.

I believe my students will learn best when I make our classroom a safe and welcoming community. When students feel safe and welcomed they open up their closed doors and see the joy of learning. I want to make the material relevant and meaningful for them as well, but i think my classroom community will benefit my students the most. They will feel comfortable in their strengths and their weaknesses while in the classroom.

I believe community and family is the key aspect to consider when building your classroom and getting to know your students. Where they come from, who their family is, what their traditions are, etc are simple but very important details to know about each student. This will help guide lessons, create a safe space, and by learning about your students as the teacher you are showing you care about them further than their academic achievements.

I believe collaboration could benefit teachers and students in various ways if used properly. Sharing ideas, gaining knowledge about others, and learning to work well with others is something that will benefit students for the rest of their lives. Letting them talk and get to know one another while learning at the same time will promote deeper understanding and more meaningful connections.

I believe being a teacher activist is about being a supporter and fighter for teachers and students. Standing up for social justice and building equity inside of schools for every student. Its important as a teacher to promote growth and change inside of the classroom and by being a teacher activist this will become possible.
