Not only are they denied of their basic human rights, they also have to suffer at the hands of things like racism and inequality. Denial of respect and dignity is the worst thing that can happen to any individual and can break one’s self morale and confidence. It’s sad to know that just by virtue of being from an Indigenous community, one is denied of basic amenities like water and healthcare. Water is the most important resource and our survival depends on it. Imagine having to boil water even before you touch it. How difficult it is for the government to provide clean water to its people. Or is it just the disparity because these people belong to the Indigenous communities. Healthcare, another important service that should be equally available to any human. I can’t even think the pain the mother had to go through after losing her child just because she did not belong, belong to the community that supposedly is deserving of proper care. I had read somewhere that the doctors take an oath to treat anyone who needs their services without making a distinction on the basis of color, race, caste, creed or religion and yet here we are, in a country where people are being subjugated to this injustice. Politics, where the premiers are supposed to make decisions for the betterment of the society and the economy as a whole, who are responsible for making decisions which could affect the entire country’s status in the world. They are the ones who should be at the forefront of setting an example for others to follow and make it an equitable environment to live in. And here it’s just the opposite- one Indigenous person who is standing up for his community is also made a scapegoat. They are not talking about unknown issues- they are only trying to make sure that these issues are not forgotten. 
It's quite a disgrace to see that humans are the ones who are not respecting other humans and treating them as equals. And it’s disappointing to see that not a lot of people even from our younger generation are ready to take on this challenge of bringing about a change.

My thoughts on racism which was experienced by Indigenous communities and families is that we should all come together to bring a stop on it as this is an ongoing problem. This hurts as Indigenous peoples came together to develop Canada; however, they are the first people who had to go through racism. As I opened the second reading which was about racism within health, my attention went to the headline which said, “Indigenous communities are denied the most important medicine people can receive: Kindness”. It hurt to read that as something as simple as giving kindness is something Indigenous peoples aren’t receiving. When I read further into this article, I read how in 2020 the federal government had promised that they would make a change to improve Indigenous health. Which means that the Inuit, Metis, and First Nations will finally be provided with better medical support. So far, everything has been going well, however, providing Indigenous peoples with just great health care isn’t it. There were still problems with discrimination within institutions. It Is important that part of the curriculum is also a perspective of First Nations, whether that me developing Canada’s youth, Indigenous or non-Indigenous teachings. Overall, I think that racism within the Indigenous community has been an ongoing problem which needs to be stopped. There are many different ways to stop this problem, by creating awareness through social media platforms, starting to set a positive example so that many behind you also start to follow your path of making a change.

It is quite surprising that anti-social factors such as racism occurred in a developed country such as Canada. Racism is commonly perceived to be based on skin color, but this is not the case for Indigenous Peoples. They face racism because of who they are, not because of their skin color. Indigenous communities and families face racism in a variety of situations, including healthcare, water distribution, and politics. Indigenous Peoples are unable to receive the same medical care as non-Indigenous Peoples. They are also unable to use water for daily purposes because the water delivered to their homes is of poor quality. Indigenous politicians' points of view are not taken into account in politics simply because they are members of the Indigenous community. Racism against Indigenous Peoples is not limited to these factors. Indigenous Peoples face racism almost everywhere, including when receiving government services.

Water is the basic necessity of life and yet the Indigenous peoples have been denied access to clean water. I remember hearing about the clean water issue on Tik Tok and many people had expressed their disappointment in the system, yet there is no change. I just can’t understand how there is still lack of action when both non-Indigenous and Indigenous peoples are raising their voice on this matter. I can’t even imagine the inconvenience of boiling water every time you want to consume it. Access to clean water shouldn’t be an issue in first world country. Canada has universal healthcare system that attracts many immigrants to this country. Having the security for your health is a privilege that many cannot afford. Some simply don’t have the money and resources, or some become the target in the system. Indigenous peoples are often denied the same treatment compared to non-Indigenous people. The lack of respect, clean water, healthcare, safety, and education are some of the most common factors that affect Indigenous communities to this date. Racism can be stopped if we educate ourselves and those around us. It is not ok to keep targeting the same community and stay silent. Let’s finally demand some change and not be a part of this toxic system.

Basically if your Indigenous in Canada and you look heavily Indigenous people are gonna treat you like garbage. They are gonna treat you like a second or third class citizen even though the people who did the colonizing are living on the land of the people they stole it from. The racism against Indigenous will likely still be around long after racism against all other races in Canada ceases to exist. Why? Simple, the government never meant for us to still be alive after they took our land. Because they never wanted us alive they never meant to take care of us for the damage they had caused. If all Indigenous people were wiped out in the genocide that hasn't ended then the government would never have to pretend they were gonna uphold their end of the bargain. we still have whole Indigenous communities being kicked out of their reserves by having the reserve being so inhospitable people don't even have clean running water for their families. We try to get medical treatment and people automatically treat you like a drug addict or a waste of medical resources. We try to go through the government process to have action happen and the 'paperwork' gets lost after being 'processed' for decades with no results. In the government themselves they still get away with calling Indigenous people horrible things with no consequences. the systems rigged and it'll never get better. After I'm long dead, generations of Indigenous people will still be dealing with racism. This week's reading has been very informative and acknowledging as it makes us aware about the Indigenous racism and discrimination. As we have progressed through this course I gained knowledge about the Indigenous suffering and their horrifying past which is just too hard to even think about it. Hence I was aware that Indigenous people have had a very sorrowful past but I wasn't aware about the  current crisis and dilemma the Indigenous people are going through, which is racism and discrimination. And I was shocked that how awful things like this is happening in the current generation where everyone are so open and supportive on how they are instead of who they are. As an Indigenous people they should be respected and treated with dignity but instead Canada treats them like they are not humans and they do not need an equal benefits of water, healthcare and politics. Water is considered as our lifeline and the government stopped accessing clean water to the Indigenous people, getting poor treatment from the local doctor or simply denying to treat the patient is just so inhuman behavior. The Indigenous people haven't done anything wrong, instead they value the land more than we do. Every week we learn a new thing about the Indigenous people some good or some bad but they are all very new to me but also fascinating at the same time to be able to gather vast knowledge on their culture and beliefs. When it comes to Canada it has a very good reputation amongst other countries because of their good healthcare, environment, rules and regulations and so on. But they have a dark side when it comes to treating Indigenous people. As I read through this week's module I was stunned to read the suffering of Indigenous  people because they were "Indigenous". They have to suffer just because they are Indigenous and face racism and discrimination. The major issues they have to face is no access to clean water, no equal service in healthcare as the non-Indigenous people, and their political views are not take into consideration. a country like Canada should be ashamed of this act which is still going on. It is very appalling to read about the deteriorating water systems on the reserves. It not only affects the health of the Indigenous community, but it also affects their land rituals that they perform to give back to the land. This is a growing concern because the liberal government agreed to help the situation back in 2015, and mentioned that work would be completed by March 2021 and they pledged 1.5 billion dollars to fix several water advisories on the reserves. The video in this module shows that children face a struggle for clean water, to drink, to brush their teeth and to shower. It is unfortunate to see all of Canada enjoy clean water, and in these communities they have to boil water or to purchase expensive jugs of water for their daily use. This shows a problem in the political system, this problem is not a urgent concern to the government. It is not on the top of their list. Because of someone’s personal interest or some corruption in something that’s supposed to be free for everybody, many Indigenous communities and their families are now agonizing over the consequences that they didn’t do. Water has bolstered the life of every Indigenous community, they’ve been living in harmony and drinking fresh and sparkling water sources directly from lakes and rivers for thousands of years, but now no more, it’s contaminated and not safe for drinking. I feel sad and crestfallen for the First Nations people because they now have to spend dollars just to have clean drinking water which was supposed to be for free ever since Canada was discovered. Kids are suffering from some skin infections from bathing water. Water is a very essential nutrient for our bodies, optimal hydration is a component of having good health, is a great therapy for any illnesses.

They have been denied basic human rights such as access to safe drinking water. In healthcare, water rights, and politics, indigenous groups suffer prejudice. Reading this week's module, I was astounded to learn of the Indigenous people's water crisis. Water is an essential human right, but Indigenous populations are denied water due to racism. It's heartbreaking to learn about the reserves' crumbling water systems. It has an impact on the Indigenous community's health as well as their land rituals, which they perform to give back to their homeland. The liberal government committed to help the problem, stating that work will be completed by March 2021 and pledging a large amount of money to fix multiple water advisories on the reserves. The video in this lesson depicts kids fighting for safe drinking water, brushing their teeth, and showering. It's awful that while the rest of Canada enjoys clean water, these villages must boil water or buy expensive bottles of water on a regular basis. This reveals a flaw in the democratic system, but it is not a concerning issue for the government. It is not a top priority for the government, which in my opinion needs to change immediately.

By researching different types of articles and journals, I gatherd some knowledge about their life, their cultures, their food habits. There are 370 million Indigenous people around the world and spread across more than 5000 different Indigenous peoples and speak more than 4,000 languages. Common reasons for the discrimination experienced by Indigenous people included ethnicity or culture (15%) and race or skin colour (14%). These proportions were approximately five times higher than among the non-Indigenous, non-visible minority population (2% and 3%, respectively. Discrimination is the reason why Indigenous peoples make up 15% of the world's extreme poor. Globally, they also suffer from high rates of landlessness, malnutrition and internal displacement than other groups. Many Indigenous peoples have been uprooted from their land due to discriminatory policies or armed conflict. I was speechless for few moments after knowing that they don't even have drinkable water, they have no rights to get proper healthcare services and they can not get political facilities or services because of being "An Indigenous". Racism also impacts on health and well being. Racism produces rates of morbidity, mortality, and overall well-being that vary depending on socially assigned race.
Eliminating racism is therefore central to achieving health equity.

This not only undermines Indigenous peoples' autonomy and legitimate right to self-determination, but it also harms the self-esteem of countless generations of people who, sadly, accept insulting stereotypes. Racism must be recognised as a lived experience, one that is felt by people, families, communities, and nations via everyday interactions and processes.
The truth is that the ideology, societal prejudices, and words that underpin race and racism cause a lot of harm.

The people thought indigenous people are not good, their source of earning is mercy or pity by the non- indigenous people or they are fed by the non- non indigenous people. 
The indigenous people worshipped their land , nature . They appreciated every season , sun , moon , stars. They use to find happiness in every movement of nature. The land and culture was so safe in their hands .
In the present time also the Indigenous people are treated differently they have poor health. The birth rate is less for the children compared to the Non-Indigenous  children. The rate of being harmed of kidnaped is more for the Indigenous women as compared to the Non-Indigenous women or girls. They have less opportunity to build spacious houses or they are settled in a crowdy area where diseases are prone leading to increase in death rate.
