Though it was primarily agrarian, meaning that they primarily farmed, not getting their food from export,  The British still coveted Indian cotton and silk textiles, handicrafts, jewelry work, ect, despite the fact that they were not the first hands with these items. This, along with their spices, was likely the reason the British colonized India
One con, however, is that infrastructure was very below average. They were mainly only able to supply raw material, while in turn being forced to buy large amounts of finished products, which were much more effective than the raw material used to produce them.
One of the few pros of the colonization was the massive improvement of connection between villages (mostly because this improved the efficiency of gathering material)
