If you choose to make a chore list for them to do, make sure you give them the choice about what they would like to put on their to do list and make clear that it's not so much a demand (can't say no) than a request, if there is something they want to be in charge of or they want to help...

We make 1/4 of this recipe at a time.

We make this in a quart size zipper bag, make sure to let the extra air out.

Store in a zipper bag or small Tupperware.

You'll need:
Tape.
Scissors.
A hammer and a punch or a screwdriver.
Two small thin plastic tubes, can be aquarium tubes, big enough for bugs to go through it.
A jam jar and lid.


Make two holes about the size of your tubes in the lid of your jam jar.
Put the tubes in the holes.
Tape some gauze to the tube the child is going to suck from.
Tape the tubes to the outside of the lid to prevent the air from leaking.
Practice by sucking ants (easy).

Always release the insects.

Never catch butterflies, their wings wouldn't survive it.

Did you know you can dye paper if you don't have spare fabrics?

Onion skin (possibly yellow, brown or red),

avocado skin and seed (light pink), 

or berries (raspberry gives blue/purple or gray/black, blackberry gives strong purple or gray/black) 

might be a good start. You'll need salt if you dye with berries.
