         <description><![CDATA[<div>1. If Kamehameha’s death was always planned by the council of chiefs and Alapaʻinui, why did preparations continue as if the child would live? Was it part of a facade to convince the commoners and lesser chiefs? If so, why? There would be no point in a facade, unless the people were already displeased with their leadership and wished for a change. <br><br>2. The most interesting aspect of Kamehameha’s journey is the amount of people willing to put themselves and their homes on the line to save Kamehameha. Later in the chapter it is pointed out that Kamehameha’s upbringing, shielded with the ordinary life he led alongside the people who protected him, is what made him the chief he became. How does the beginning of Kamehameha’s journey match other heroes journeys?<br><br>3. Was it common for high chiefs to embark on challenges like Kamehameha’s challenge of defeating the shark and consuming its eye? Was it meant to prove their worthiness to the people and the lesser chiefs?<br><br></div>]]></description>
