Harmony - this passage talks about how "I miss the days when the only thing I had to search for was Waldo". as an adult, sometimes the pressures of everyday life and career goals are heavy. I learn something from every single day, and sometimes that is exhausting! I seek harmony in my everyday life to help keep my inner peace.

Strategy - I have felt office politics much more lately, since I got a promotion (at my other job) very recently. I am starting to second guess a lot of my decisions because I want to respect opinions of those who have more experience than me. But I also have to remember that I got to where I am, at my age, for a reason. It is time to stop doubting myself and evolve into my next version (full-time faculty).

This song talks about being stuck in between using your emotions and following your heart or being rational and following your brain

It explains how one can't be using both when it comes to love because it makes it harder to understand the feelings a person has toward someone else

This song relates to my values because it's always a challenge to me whether I want to be using my kindness to express emotions or just do whatever comes into my mind

It also relates to growth because being in a relationship where you are lost to what you want to go through with helps you grow and become a stronger person over time and for your future relationships

This verse talks about how independent he is he never needed help, also talks about how loyal he is when people need him. This verse also dabbles in how he is successful now or some would say "on top"

My values are Independence and hardwork. This song matches my values because he talks about doing it by himself and being successful. Being that he is so successful and independent it reflects to me and my values and makes me focus on my values when I hear it.

commitment and balance sort of relate more to these lyrics because you can have all of these emotions and circumstances going on but you always need to keep on trying and stay committed to your goals no matter what. As well as fitting balance in there when life gets difficult.

empathy also correlates because you never know what someone is going through and if they're just trying. Its everyone's first time at life and if they're trying there best that's all they can really offer and sometimes you just have to accept that.

Ambition: The song Circadian Rhythm by Drake matched one of my values pretty well.  These verses relate to my value of Ambition because he is explaining that no matter how many struggles came to him, he still ends up on top in the end. Additionally, as he states in his verse, we both use problems as lessons instead of unfixable obstacles. I often find myself in difficult situation where it seems impossible to overcome or get myself out of. I then remember as long as I really want something, I can overcome any obstacle.

Making a difference: This song also relates to my values of making a difference, not necessarily for the world, but for myself. If I am able to overcome obstacles and still become successful in the end, I am making a great difference and change in my life.

Empathy: This passage states how even the best fall down sometimes, that pretty much even the best of people has their tough moments. You shouldn't feel ashamed that you are struggling with something as everyone has had a moment in their lives where they were struggling with their own issues, with many people dealing with their issues at the same time as you.

Growth: Even though you may fall down, it isn't like you're going to stay down forever. Eventually, you have to pick yourself up and learn from this experience. Everyone falls down at some point, what matters is how you pick yourself up and grow.

Family-The part of the song I chose talks about being surrounded by luxuries and not the materialistic type, the singer means that they are surrounded by the luxury of having a good life given by their parents and their dreams coming true. This part resonates with the value I have of family and they have always done their best to give me a good life. My family is what I cherish the most and they are one of the main reasons I am going to college.

The second part of the verse talks about God always guiding one so their plans will work out. That part really resonates with me since I chose faith as one of my values and the song resonates with how I am connected through faith to achieve my dreams.

The lyrics I most relate to are, “I was an angry youth while I was writin' Views
Saw a side of myself that I just never knew” because during my years before i’d get mad over small things and make a bigger deal about it than it should’ve been. Now I realize that it’s not worth going about life like that and it relates to two of my 5 values that was positivity and growth

Freedom - Even though this was not on my list of 5, it is still personally very important to me. I can really relate to this part of the song because I am beginning to live more on my own and let my true self out, instead of being filtered for my parents. I also don't have to fully conform to any schedules that they make for me, like events that I don't want to attend, hence the line "Done living for someone else's time."

Individuality - I feel this part of the song connects to my sense of individuality because I feel like the worst possible thing is to be grouped in with a bunch of other people based off of one thing.

The whole song to me feels like its about splitting from what you know and finding yourself.

Understanding: this passage talks about how we all make mistakes, how its bound to happen, and how we have to keep going and take the “weight”. There has to be an understanding that nothing will be perfect and that plans dont always work out the way theyre supposed to. But you cant let yourself be discouraged because of that.

Stability: Because this part of the song speaks about the expected change of plans, stability plays a roll because even when it doesn’t happen they way you wanted it to you should still keep going and adapt to the situations. And eventually it will all work out.

The song "Ghost Town" by Kanye West reflects a theme of maintaining hope and desire to make change while maintaining your true identity. This relates to my value of balance of trying to get to my goals and desires while balancing my true self where some people tend to fall out of who they are. The meaning of the song also relates to my value honesty as trying to say true to your identity is a form of honesty.

Determination

I will always be determined to work and make money. And be dedicated to what ever I put my mind to in order to succeed.

Making a difference

Working from a young age to feel what work feels like and trying to make a difference for a better future.

Harmony- This songs is inspirational and a song of hope. It repeats "Gods Speed" meaning a prosperous journey of life that you live. It can also mean to have faith in God, which is something I do. Taking risk and letting go of the past is something hard to do for me but for me knowing that I have God on my side the outcome will benefit me wether its in the moment or years later is all about " Gods Speed" and not my speed of life.

I feel this song relates to me in many ways just by having faith and trusting the process on God and not feeling pressured. Having courage and knowing God will provide for me having faith , and commitment to Him helps me in life.

Openness - It takes a lot of courage and openness with one another to speak about changes that are negatively affecting a relationship or friendship. I treasure openness and proper communication so I can relate to this a lot.

Growth, these first lines of the song are very close to home for me. I grew up in a single parent house where my mother would take care of me and my siblings. It was such a tough time because my parents had just divorced and everyone was in shambles trying to pick up the scattered pieces of our broken home. From that house, I never got to experience what I had thought was a stable family. As I grew up, I also grew as a person; someone willing to adhere to others and change for their benefit.

Openness, growing up, my grandmother was a major part in my family’s survival. Because I had been such a quiet and shy kid, I never got to tell her that I loved her and that she was the only person that I found myself relating too. She was such a kind and sweet person, who never complained and was always patient, and I never got to tell her that I appreciated all of her efforts before she passed. It’s why I value openness because you never know what’s going to happen next. Especially because it might be something you can never get back.

Growth - Steve Lacy expresses the fact that not changing or growing as a person can be no fun or almost boring. And I completely agree with his message and relate to it on a personal level. Growing and changing who you are as a person is significant to me, but also it is important to surround yourself with people who want growth and change. Bringing out the best version of yourself and others.

Growth - This passage is showing how to grow you must take risks. You can't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. I have felt more recently that I tend to shy away from taking risks. It scares me because it makes me uncomfortable. I just need to take the moment and taste it without being afraid of what the outcome is going to be. Taking a moment as it comes can help you grow as a person.

Strength - This verse is talking about how even though it took a lot of strength to get there it still happened. You must be strong and take challenges head on. You can do it even if it takes a long time to accomplish. You must be strong to get through a challenge. I try to use my strength to face difficult challenges everyday. Life can be hard but it's important to find your inner strength.

Achievement - Much of this song is meant to represent pushing through the struggles of life to achieve great things. I have always related heavily to the message of this song, partly because of its mention of achievement and success despite everything. This song is always a good reminder to persevere through the rough times because you will make it through in time. If you continue to work hard and think positively about the journey, you will find success within yourself.

Calm - This part of the song to me represents a sense of calm in accepting that life is chaotic and bad things can happen, but the world will keep turning. There is a serenity to being confident within yourself and the choices you have made so far in your life, whether you consider them to be inherently good or bad. To not be frustrated or angry by life and instead just go through the motions and take it as it comes is a mindset I have been trying to teach myself over the years.

This passage relates to my value of ambition. Kanye is making a general statement. He states he is not one to back down nor give up. He embodies drive, specifically in this lyric. He cannot be "brought down".

This segment relates to my value of persistence. This part talks about working back to back. This is the definition of persistence. According to my interpretation, the song notes that there is strength in working/persistence.

Positivity - Even though this lyric has the word peace in it, to me to felt more like positivity because it's talking about turning anger (a negative emotion) into something positive (peace). Also, kids tend to be happier and see the goodness in others/things a lot more than teens and adults. I want to have the amount of positivity that kids do.

Peace - This lyric conveys what I think peace mainly is. To not worry about how others disagree or even dislike me. That I shouldn't let the actions and opinions of others (which I can't control) consume my mind in a negative way.

Selflessness - this passage talks about the earth and how people don't realize the stuff that we do in humanity that is effecting the earth. Some examples are wars, climate change, pollution, etc and Micheal Jackson explains that we should care and noticed about the things we do that effects the earth and create peace.

Faith ( Religion ) - I noticed that this song also talks about religion ( Christianity ) because Micheal Jackson describes about what the earth once was when God first created the earth, and also mentions about Father Abraham.

The reason why I choose this song as my values because this song represents mostly selflessness, and the reason why because we describes about the war and how innocent people have to suffer, how climate change and pollution is effecting animals, and how the world is not in peace, and how we can and should make the world a better place.

Love- These lyrics and the whole song talks about how there is no better life than your own. In addition, it talks about how you should just love what you have.

Adventure/fun - I feel like I relate to this song about the whole idea about doing things beyond possible and just living your heart out with those around you. The line "I had the time of my life fighting dragons with you", that makes me think about how people think you can't do the "impossible" or the unlikely, but you end up doing it. This song honestly just makes me think about the many fun experiences I've had growing up.

Family (+friends) - This song makes me think about going on these crazy adventures with the people I hold closest to me. There'll always be times and obstacles that I'll have to face and I have my friends and family by my side helping me push through and go beyond. "I had the time of my life... with you." The whole idea of being with those you love play in my mind whenever I listen to this song.

This song talks about being yourself in its purest form which reflects my values of honesty and ambition. The artist reflects the difficulty many people have when expressing themselves fully and unapologetically but proceeds to say essentially that she doesn't care and is going to say how she feels anyway - which I think reflects honesty and ambition.

Growth~ This part of the song will always stick to my growth process which I am still growing and learning new things in college. Loyalty - This song talks about loving someone unconditionally but also just loving them for who they are. Billy Joel also says that they don't need to, and he doesn't want them to change. This related to loyalty for me because If I love someone like family or friends, I will stay with them and not leave them in times of trouble.

Openness - "Just the Way You Are" relates to my value of openness because nobody is perfect, and accepting who people are is very important if you want to get along with others. This is a value that I will carry on through work, school, family, and new friends who come along the way.

Understanding - The lyrics, "I would not leave you in times of trouble" relates most to my value of being understanding because understanding that things aren't going to be perfect is very important in life. If we aren't understanding, we are going to suffer and worry a lot in life. Its best to be optimistic about certain things.

This song talks about perseverance and sticking to your goals to get there one day. He talks about staying strong because the journey will never be easy to get where you want to be. it talks about how it's worth it to push through because in the end you will reap the benefits

Selflessness- Micheal Jackson describes in these lyrics issues that are effecting the earth like wars, pollution, climate change, etc, and he expresses how we should

I see the value commitment in this verse because he started young in the music industry and started off with little to no listeners but was committed and then blew up with his music.

- Towards the end of this verse is why I chose this verse because he says "People you grow up with layin in a coffin, But I done made it through the pain and strife" which to me shows that even when losing people you love the most you still have to keep going in which I can relate to.
