Brandon Liao: Pre-Listening Post Jeremiah and I will be listening to Season One of "Serial" which is about a popular girl named Hae Min Lee who disappeared and murdered and her ex-boyfriend is arrested for the murder, though he doesn't remember what happened that January. I am excited to listen to my first ever podcast. And what better than listening to a podcast about crime and murder. I am hoping for the host to tell the tale about deception, murder, so on and so forth. I hope to discover what the meaning behind the letters (that are attach to the podcast episode) and how the prime suspect reacts when he/she gets caught. I am expecting a lot of drama, lies, and suspicious people throughout this season. Well, I just need to find out don't I.

Episode 1: The Alibi After I finished the first episode of "Serial", what was surprising to me was the amount of detail the host gave to her audience, evidence such as letters, interviewing possible witnesses, etc. Though the host knows that now everyone has heard of this case, she expects her audience to already know that there is a lot of drama. However, I still have questions about why did Jay choice to burry the body instead of refusing against it, it just doesn't make sense. But at the same time, who knows what would have happened is he refused. Anyway, one thing that caught my attention was the experiment the host did with his nephews friends. The more significant the event is the more a person remembers, but if it is not significant then a person will remember less. When the host read Asia's letter to Adnan, the letter claims that Asia believes Adnan is innocents because she had spoke to him in the library. I want to know if Adnan actually remember this event because how significant it is but who knows, Asia might be in it as well (my suspicion) but I doubt it. Although Asia may think Adnan is innocent, near the end of the letter Asia states, "If I ever find otherwise, I will hunt you down and whip your ass, " which implies that Asia is threatening Adnan if he did commit the murder and will personally take revenge for his actions, suspicious. I wonder why the host didn't read the entire letter to the audience? Maybe to keep the suspense and allow the her audience to read it for themselves? Though I still have a lot of questions, it might get answered in the next episode. Can't wait!!!

Overtime I have learned that we know faces but we don't know the heart of people or there intentions. People good have good citizenship but a cold and dark heart. Look at Adnan Syed he was a Golden Child but I would say that you don't know what people are thinking, the least person you could expect to kill, steal, or lie is the one who actually did. I was surprised to learn that Adnan grew up conservative yet rebelled against his parents beliefs and dated and did well regular teen things. However, I don't think his teen behavior should have been used against him to blame him for murder. Maybe he wasn't a perfect Muslim, but just because he had to lie to his parents doesn't make him a liar, it makes him an ordinary teen who hides the truth from the parents.

If nothing links to a crime then why would you be blamed. If jakes Story was inconsistent, then why was it used at proof to blame Adnan. It seems like Adnan was being framed for Murder.

What if Jay is the real killer, Adnan is just the one who was thrown under the bus. I feel Jay is the real sociopath in this story. What if Jay is the one who planned everything.

Are we required to remeber every single detail of our days, it's just not normal.

Wait if someone says they can account for a time frame that is very important than why did the attorney not use it.

If someone takes back something that was said it could be because the witness had been threatened or her life was endangered or it could be that she in fact was force to perjure herself.

Asia is not a liar but why is she not testifying the truth.

Sometimes the legal system is unfair. Adnan should be free and the real killer should be found.

Adnan Syed & Hae Mee Lee Broke Up. The prosecutors claimed that Adnan was enraged that he had been dishonored by Hae Mee Lee.

Adnan was in love with Hae Mee Lee he even refused to dance with the Princess even though her was the crowned prince.

Adnan and Hae had to keep it a secret and worked out a system to call each other at night, yet the prosecutors claimed that he was manipulative of Hae. But Why?

Just because a teenage boy wants to spend time with his girl and know where she is doesn't mean he is manipulative, its just like most guys, from personal experience you want to spend time together and talk have some laughs etc. Yes, Adnan was a bit overboard but I can't blame him, I remember my first relationship, I didn't know what to do how to act, if I was doing it right. It was a big question mark, honestly if Hae needed space she should have spoke up or told one of her friends that could talk to Adnan.

Yet Hae doesn't describe Adnan as overbearing or possessive,so why would the prosecutors claim this?

Something doesn't seem right.

There relationship seemed like any other High School relationship just with the SEX!!! He sacrificed his beliefs to be with Hae.
First of all, Adnan didn't know how Hae felt about their relationship. Lack of communication but why was it used in court that's what is killing me?

WEIRD, I feel bad for Adnan his mom was very over protective.

Why would the prosecutors make these claims that Adnan killed Hae because his parents humiliated him on Homecoming? What?

Yet Adnan didn't care about the incident at hand instead he would joke about it.

Can it also be said that Adnan got a cell phone to be able to talk to Hae more privately. So basically the prosecutors are saying that getting a cell phone is part of a plan to kill someone.

So because I know how to perform CPR Im a Qualified killer, Nope, these arguments seem illogical yet it persuaded a jury. Someone who gets EMT certified is because they want to save lives not take them.

Also, the prosecutor misinterpreted the words of the English teacher and used it to there advantage. The teacher restated that Adnan was like any other teenager that has a dark side, and yes we do, because we don't have anything upbeat to say, we think our life is boring.

Aisha states that Hae thought that the Homecoming incident was serious thing, Hae didn't want to ruin Adnan relationship with parents or get him trouble so they broke up but got together a month later.

Yet she falls for a guy name Don and breaks up with Adnan. By Jan 1st, Don and Hae are dating yet Don is older but in his twenties old.

JAY did all the stories and details to detectives, it seems like JAY planned it and figured out how to cover his tracks and blame Adnan.

The AP Psychology teacher who knows and researched about human behavior never got or registered a vide of rage and anger towards Hae but instead a usal guy one ( we cry, we sad,yet we hide our feels though there obvious to those around us.) This all the opposite of what Jay had stated.

Adnan friend said that Adnan wasn't upset because he was dating multiple girls behind her back (not me but a typical joke SMH).

The Breakup was just a typical teenage breakup.

Why was this Breakup a big argument, Don himself said that Adnan and himself had met and he never expressed rage or anger.

The Motive for the Murder is false and a believe that this was more like a witch hunt.

Adnan and Hae were not spotted together in her car besides JAY!!!

Hae had her routine after school and never gave a ride to no one. He may have asked for a ride but never was given one.

Personally, Adnan did ask for the ride because remember his car had broke down, he spoke to the first detective on the same day that his memory was fresh yet the second detective tweeks later was told something else because yes he has his own car but on that day his Car was in the shop. It's something that you could easily forget, It didn't seem important at the time.

After finally finishing episode 2 of "Serial," I was still amazed in how much drama it had through out the episode, such as Adnan asking Lee to the prom to Jay changing his story. I have a suspicion the Jay is the killer, but who knows.

Near the beginning of the 2nd episode, the host talks about Lee's diary, which was more like a drama book if you ask me (4:08). In the diary, Lee talk about how she loves Adnan, not just in prom-night but the affection he gave for her. This proves that Adnan still had affection for Lee, just like the time where he basically was talking to Lee, in-person, when she was at a "girl's night" with her friends. Since, I been watching anime all my life, I can say for certain that sometimes it is creepy, but it shows that a character is attracted to another. Just like Adnan talking to Lee at her girl-meeting, it just shows how much Adnan loves her.

In the timestamp 6:06, it was revealed that both Lee and Adnan had to keep there relationship a secret from their parents. Both Lee and Adnan had expectations from their parents, do well in school and talk care of siblings, "but for Adnan, no girls." At this point, I can see why the prosecutor will see Adnan as guilty because when Lee broke up with him, it would seem as if Adnan will get jealous that Lee will be with another man so of course the prosecutor will see it as an opportunity to claim Adnan is guilty. However, if prosecutors read her diary carefully, I am sure they have, it is prove that Adnan loved her but not obsessed.

And when Adnan's mom found out about his lover, she was mad because of the Muslim heritage that he got from both parents. But then again, not all religious children are that religious, this doesn't prove that Adnan wanted to kill Lee, this just proves that he was a child.

I love the podcast so far and I am hoping for some more answers on this case.
