Propaganda can vary in appearance. 
~ In 1984, The posters of big brother were everywhere and the eyes would always watch you. The poster read, “Big Brother is watching you” signifying to the citizens of Airstrip One, that you should be mindful of what you do at all times because someone is always watching. Another example is the three slogans for the ministry of truth. “WAR IS PEACE, FREEDOM IS SLAVERY and IGNORANCE IS STRENGTH.” These slogans were intended to justify the actions of the government. 

FORCED LOYALTY: 
Forced loyalty can happen in any situation involving a relationship of some sort. This can cause conflict with in the relationship. 
~ In 1984, All of the citizens of AirStrip One weren’t allowed to go against the party in power.
The government was so strict that even having “impure” thoughts could result in severe punishment.  Winston was also forced to be loyal to his wife while they were married; But, they were both miserable. Winston often had thoughts of killing her.

SELF-EXPLORATION: 
Self exploration is important for developing into an adult. Prohibiting someone from doing so can cause anger when they find out the truth; and that anger can cause rebellion. 
~ In the beginning of 1984, winston was cheering along with the crowd during hate week. We later come to find out that winston is actually against the party’s beliefs. He later rebels due to the longing for freedom. Julia is also a example this theme. Her whole mindset includes her doing what she wants but she’s not deliberately going out of her way to disobey the government. So her rebellious attitude is much less intense than winston’s
