Holding/Reasoning: In a 6-3 decision Supreme Court ruled that firing of an employee for the mere fact they are gay or transgender violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.
Significance: Before this ruling in 52% of the states have clear laws that prohibit job discrimination based on sexual orientation. Now after this ruling all states must prohibit discrimination based on sexual orientation.

Kenosha Unified Sch. Holding/Reasoning: District Court judge grants preliminary conjunction stating that student should be allowed to use the bathroom with which he identifies. Appeals court upholds this unanimously stating that transgender students' have rights protected under Title IX and the Equal Protection Clause.

It has been decided by the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit in favor of GG claiming the school board policy violate Title IX and that students should be able to use the bathroom that they identify with.

In February 2021 the school district files petition with the US Supreme Court asking them to hear the case. Issue: Does forcing staff to address transgender students by their preferred name/pronouns violate the first amendment.
Holding/Reasoning: the federal district court found that the school district's policy regarding addressing students by their preferred name and pronoun
was neutral and applied to all teachers, regardless of religious belief.

Bostock v. Clayton County, GA was a huge milestone and really set the president for cases to follow.
