She told me that the soil/substrate must be acidic because it influences the growth and coloring of leaves and flowers.
Her tree is in a place where it receives moderate direct light and is protected from the wind.
My grandmother told me that it´s necessary to be careful with excessive fertilization because it makes plants less compact and increases susceptibility to cold and diseases. In addition, she only wateres it in the Summer and, sometimes, during flowering (end of Winter).

Ariana, Vilela Basic and Secondary School (Portugal).

An important geofit in Adıyaman is Fritillaria imperialis L., known as the Weeping Bride or Reverse tulip (Sincik Tulip). This endemic bulbous plant has ecological demands similar to Adıyaman tulip. The height of this plant is 50 - 55 cm. and there are 4-5 flowers in each of the plants that started to bloom in mid-March. The Reverse Tulip, which grows in the higher parts of our district, has an important place in the flower bulb export of our country, which is 2.5-3 million dollars per year. In addition, these plants, which can be evaluated as landscape and cut flowers, have an important value for the economy of our city. In this respect, the gates of our district are open to all entrepreneurs.
Sincik Aihl/TURKEY

Istrian bellflower (Campanula istriaca), a herbaceous plant from por. bellflower (Campanulaceae), an Istrian-Kvarner endemic. It is spread on the same. coast of Istria (Plomin, Sisol, Brseč), and on Cres, Krk, Plavnik, Rab, Pag and near Jablanac and in the vicinity of the foothills of Velebit.Inhabits cracks in coastal rocks in the endemic community Campanulo-Centaureetum dalmaticae. The leaves of the Istrian bell tower are serrated, relatively soft and tender, but overgrown with deciduous hairs, which probably helps protect the plant from excessive drying and strong sunlight that directs its rays directly into the cliffs. Like other bellflowers, the plant contains white milky sap, and the underground parts are somewhat thickened and fleshy. These are also a kind of adaptation to drought conditions. The Istrian bell tower is often overgrown and resists the most exposed parts of rocky coastal cliffs in the bora, where it is sometimes exposed to salt, which is especially pronounced during the bora, when the sea "clogs" and its blows spread to the islands. The Istrian bell tower can be grown from seed (for which a special permit must be obtained because it is a protected taxon), but it takes a lot of effort to germinate. It naturally spread to the walls of some ancient Kvarner towns from the cliffs at the foot or in the surroundings and thus became a kind of decoration of the settlement.

Frančeska Licul-student,The High school of Mate Blazine Labin, Croatia

Persian speedwell is a non native annual in the figwort family (Schrophulariaceae). Other common names for Persian speedwell include birdseye speedwell and winter speedwell. It has prostrate stems with turned-up tips and spreads over the ground to form a dense groundcover, rooting at the lower nodes. The leaves and stems are covered with fine hairs. Leaves are oval to round and coarsely toothed, with short petioles. The lower leaves on the stem are opposite, while the upper leaves are alternate, with a flower in each axil. Flowers are about 1/4 inch wide, blue with deeper blue veins and white centers, and borne on long slender stalks. Fruits are flattened, with a notch at the top, and are surrounded by four persistent sepals. Like other members of the Scrophulariaceae family, speedwell flowers have an irregular corolla. Their corollas are saucer-shaped and are deeply and unequally four-lobed. Persian speedwell has single flowers in each leaf axil on the upper part of the stem.

Kübra AKKAYA/SAİHL/Turkey

Lavender is a perennial that will last for several years under the right conditions. Because of its Mediterranean origin, lavender loves blazing hot sun and dry soil. If your lavender doesn’t thrive, it’s most likely due to overwatering, too much shade, and high humidity levels. Growing lavender is easy and rewarding. Lavender can be grown in garden beds or in pots. To grow lavender successfully it needs well-drained soil and full sun. In arid climates lavender grows well as a perennial, but in humid climates it is often grown as an annual.

Noemi Juričić, High school Mate Blažine Labin
