In the Middle Ages, when this ghostly figure appeared, it meant that someone close, from the family or from the neighborhood, was going to die. In English tradition, the Lady in White guarded a treasure, but she died suddenly, before she could reveal to anyone where it was hidden.

The legend of the girl with the curve comes from a long time ago.
In a radio program they tell us about the experience, so this is done with an open microphone, and after telling the story, calls began to arrive explaining their experience and they were all the same.
Based on what the program's announcer tells us, he tells us the traditional story of a "girl" who walks along the side of the road late at night, normally goes barefoot, and wears a white long dress. He "hitchhikes" and when he gets into the person's vehicle, he only indicates that he is going to the nearest town, he immediately warns of a danger and disappears.
The curious thing is that the danger is real and has saved the person from what would have been an accident.
When the driver looks at the place where the girl was, he finds that there was no one there. After telling this story on the show, they began receiving calls from listeners who were truck drivers who recounted their experience:

“One night I was driving along the Sanlúcar la Mayor highway, when I got to the Cuesta de las Doblas area, I saw a young woman walking on the side, barefoot and wearing a white dress. I stopped the truck and told her to get in, to take her wherever she was going, I felt very sorry. He got in and told me to be careful that further on there was a car stopped without signaling and that I could hit it, since it was badly parked and was occupying the road... Luckily he told me because two hundred meters later a dark car appeared that it was in the middle of the road... and when I looked at the place where the girl was, they were no longer there, she had left”.

The curious thing about the narration is that in that same point of the Sevillian town there was a serious traffic accident of a bus suffering a serious loss in human lives; In this accident, a young woman was killed who was wearing a kind of dress or similar in white..., just like the apparition on the road seen by witnesses...

So that program was plagued by calls from listeners who at that same kilometer point claimed to have seen that same ghost, that same "girl on the curve", that same apparition.

The idea of trick-or-treating is also related to the ghosts of the dead pagan. As America welcomed the large number of immigrants in the second half of the nineteenth century, with them came their Halloween traditions. The English and Irish are credited with early trick-or-treating, and brought with them the custom of dressing up, and travelling door-to-door to ask for food.

These traditions, began in Britain and Ireland in the Middle-Ages, when children and sometimes poor adults would dress up in costumes and go around door to door begging for food or money in exchange for songs and prayers, often said on behalf of the dead.  This was called “souling” and the children were called “soulers”. A common food given while souling was a small, round “soul cake”, often with a cross marked on top, that represented a soul being freed when the cake was eaten. These cakes were generally sweet, made with nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon, and raisins.

The devil appeared to take Jack with him and Jack asked for a last will before being taken to hell. He asked to go to the pub to drink his last beer. The devil accepted so they went to the pub. When he finished his beer, Jack convinced the devil to transform into a coin to pay the waiter. The devil was surprised by that request, but he agreed and turned into a coin. Jack caught the coin and put it into his pocket where he carried a crucifix. In order to get freedom, the devil gave Jack ten years more of life. He accepted.

After those ten years the devil came again to take Jack definitely with him as they had agreed. But Jack asked to go to an apple tree to eat one last apple before dying. When the devil climbed up the tree to take the apple, Jack surrounded all the tree with crucifixes. and so the devil got trapped.

In order to free him, Jack asked that the devil could never touch his soul again, and he accepted. So Jack continued living as usual until the day he died. But when he tried to go into Heaven, St. Peter didn't allow him because he had made a lot of sins during his life. That's why he was condemned to wander forever as a ghost. So he made a lantern, using a turnip to light his way.

When this story arrived to America, and as they had a lot of pumpkins they changed the turnip by a pumpkin to make their lanterns in order to keep the devil away from their houses.

 

A young bachelor at the beginning of his career became very successful very quickly, so he bought himself a house. One morning, he awoke to the sound of running water. He rushed to the bathroom and saw that the bathtub faucet was running on full blast. He was perturbed by this, as he lived alone. A week later, it happened again, only this time it wasn’t just one faucet—it was all of the faucets in the house. The young man called a repairman to fix the pipes and the water damage…but, as it turned out, the pipes weren’t broken. The repairman, a local, seemed visibly shaken. “What’s wrong?” the bachelor asked. “The woman who lived here before you,” said the repairman, “she drowned in that bathtub.”

It tells the story of a woman walking down the road at night, hitch hiking. When a car stops, she hops in the back seat of the car. When they’re near a dangerous curve, a traffic signal shows up, warning them. After they had passed the curve, the driver realizes that the woman is gone. Later the driver finds out that in that exactly curve a woman died tragically.

In other versions, is the driver who dies, leaving always someone alive to tell the story.

This classic is my favorite movie to watch on Halloween, it's impossible to fall asleep with it! Also, it is one of the scariest movies of all time, and one of the scariest in the 80's. It also introduced  Freddy Krueger the ultimate boogeymen that you know who he is just by his name.

One of the legends of Halloween started about 2,000 years ago as Samhain. 
Samhain means “summer’s ends.”
It was celebrated by the Celtic people in Europe to end the harvest and start the dark time.
This was close to November 1st.
They believed that during this time the spirits from this world would cross into another world. 
The people would put on costumes and would light huge bonfires to warn of the spirits.
