Good grades and honor society, college sure I would be bound
Uncertain of my future another route I took
Exploring the world for 7 years was a different way to look

Many thought the ships would turn me on my feet
Instead the Navy brought me fun and travel from an airplane seat
“Being an Aircrewman is not an easy job” 
And once I had a family I wouldn’t last for long. 

I am now married with a beautiful child
Any happier I could not be
Working on a new career, one suited just for me.
Reading, writing, mentoring young minds for me to hold
Hoping to give them everything for their future to be bold.

The Navy made me an expert in my job and taught me techniques to train others. Training adults in the Navy is obviously a little different than teaching young minds but it helped me gain confindence in myself and what I can bring to the table. 

I’ve learned the importance of leadership and have first hand experienced bad learders. My take away was always evaluating the negative traits from those bad leaders and focusing in on my own presence and treatment of my subordinates. I want to be someone those under my leadership is comfortable coming to me for help and direction. These experiences in the Navy I believe will help in my future as a teacher.

I’m want to teach my students confindence in themselves and what they bring to the table. Even when I’ve been teaching for 20 years I’ll still believe there is more for me to learn. In my field of teaching techniques and technologies are always evolving and teaching need to keep up with these changes. 

For the here and now, I’m excited to learn how to handle a classroom. A huge deterrent for me from teaching high school is my worry that I won’t be able to hold me open against any opposition or peer on peer dilemmas. I want to be able to positively and effectively mange my future classroom.  I also feel feel there a lot more I need to learn in my subject field of English.   • I want to be an approachable and trustworthy figure in my students lives
  • I want my students to leave my classroom with more confidence in understanding themselves.
