I would say that on a scale of 1-5 my knowledge of the Holocaust is about a 3 because I know for the most part what happened and what the conflict was, but there are many things I still have yet to learn.
2. I actually have read Night, and I read it in 8th grade.
3. I think that humans add grief to grief for self control and to help people feel better about themselves. It is not something that people are typically proud of, but it is the reality and it is a coping mechanism for sure.
4. I want to know how it ended.
5. 1. The Nazis from Germany lead the Holocaust
2. Millions of Jews, Gypsies, and other seemingly "outcasts" of society were killed and put into concentration camps- 6 million died.

1) 4
2) Yes
3) Humans add grief to grief because of their need to have meaning in life. Everybody constantly wrestles with the struggle of finding a reason for being alive, and often that outlet turns out to be other people. When other people suffer, we sometimes feel that they are struggling more than us which makes us in turn, whether intentionally or not, want to worsen that grief to understand ourselves.
4) Do stories of the Holocaust still affect people the same way today as it did many decades ago?
5) Many Jews were afraid of sharing their stories many years after the Holocaust. Most of the Jews going to the concentration camps did not know that people were being slaughtered in the camps.
