Although there's still no concrete evidence, one thing that proves the latter is that no one actually saw the original copy. He could've done something else. He could've lived if he took it back before he died but no, Still died for his country. The details of the events during this claimed retraction just don't add up. A lot of the events were uncovered. We should always remember that in order for us to actually be able to comprehend and build up a good argument in a debate or in a normal discussion we should be able to base everything on facts. This, Rizal's Retraction, contained little to no proof that can be used in a great argument.
