         <description><![CDATA[<div>Typically, 23 pairs of chromosomes are inherited from each parent. Down Syndrome occurs when an individual has an extra 21st chromosome. This affects the child in many ways as the additional material alters their development physically and mentally. Other than maternal age, there have been no studies that link environment and prior parental activity to the direct cause of Down Syndrome.<br><br></div>]]></description>
