The activity with the photos (visual signs/environmental signs) was a brilliant way of putting the document into practice.
'Play is the universal language of childhood'. 'Every child has the right to play'. Learning through experiences - at home, nursery/school, in the community. The team presented all the filters for play and explained why play matters in a really thoughtful way. 3 little pigs story used as a good example of putting the document into practice, also a reminder of how by being reflective practitioner we can take children's views and interest into planning for the next steps. Learning happens every day at every environment. Justyna

Child at the centre was a really good reminder of how mindful we need to be when working with children. To respect each individuality, make them feel included and safe. To support them ensuring high standards of care. Baby massage presentation was a beautiful metaphor of what the principles and values in health and social care are. Dominoes activity example gave an idea of support that is right for each individual child, as they are all unique and learn in different ways. Justyna

The document about accessibility of outdoor play, learning and development. The team gave us a fabulous hands on experiences on den building and woodwork opportunities to develop crucial life skills. We can't take all the risks from this world but we can teach children how to stay safe to make the most of natural environments. We need to teach them to asses risks and explore the spaces in all weathers. We need to equip them with the tools needed for life as nature is a place to learn, a safe place to learn. Justyna

Also complements The Children and Young People Act 2014 (Scotland) and underpinned by GIRFEC. Focus is on the youngest children. Also encompasses and builds on Pre - Birth to 3 and The Curriculum for Excellence. This is a guide to everyone involved in ELCC and focuses on bringing together early learning and childcare by removing the barrier between the two; making them 'indivisible'. It is a seamless/holistic approach from 0 up until starting school. Terminology has been altered by removing 'pre -school'. The provision has been extended in terms of hours and flexibility/increase in funded places and ages of participants. The document sets out development in stages and suggest what children need at that particular stage. 'Stage not age'.

Lovely to see some examples of work! Creativity should be central to all tasks where possible and encouraged. There is a focus on making your own decisions and learning from your mistakes, with children being at the centre/child - led learning journey. Underpinned by GIRFEC and complemented by The Curriculum for Excellence and Pre - Birth to 3. This is vital for development and aids resilience and confidence. This encourages problem solving skills and discusses the importance of adult involvement; knowing when to intervene/take a step back in terms of learning and development.

By allowing play the child is given an environment that is fun, which allows that child a positive learning experience. Play can happen anywhere with as much or as little equipment. Active play also supports healthy children with an increased in social interaction. I personally think that play more than anything else is the single most important part of any learning experience. So much more can be learned (and taught) in a fun, open and playful environment. 😄😄👨‍🎓👍

It is a Fabulous tool to allow us to truly understand the importance of offering a creative environment for our young learners to drive them forward on their own journey. 🎭🖼️🎨🚕🚎🚙🚗
