One of the ways according to the heritage.org was, "Gangs of Red Guards -- young men and women between 14 and 21 -- roamed the cities targeting revisionists and other enemies of the state, especially teachers." this evidence states how many young people reacted by joining in on the violence. Another way people reacted according to the article on ABC Clio about Mao Zedong is, "Teachers, managers, intellectuals, and anyone suspected of insufficient revolutionary purity were forced to confess their 'misdeeds' publicly. Many victims died from torture; others committed suicide." As mentioned, the victims committed suicide, this was one of the ways they reacted.
