Outcome 1.1. Developed lesson plans that pre-service teachers use in field experiences to engage elementary school children in the application of biomimicry in maker-centered classrooms.

Outcome 1.2. Developed materials including a website with multimedia biomimicry case studies (we call this tool BioInspire), hands-on maker activities and design thinking resources.

Outcome 2.1. Pre-service teachers demonstrate increased awareness in connecting student learning to STEM-related careers with developmentally appropriate STEM experiences.

Outcome 2.2. Pre-service teachers show an increased sense of maker empowerment (i.e. inclination and capacity to drive positive change in the world) and develop their own competencies toward innovation including curiosity, creativity, collaboration, communication, looking closely, intellectual openness, resilience, and courage to act. 

Outcome 3.1. Students increase awareness in connecting biomimicry and makerspaces to STEM-related careers and STEM content.

Outcome 3.2. Students show an increased sense of maker empowerment and develop competencies including curiosity, creativity, collaboration, communication, looking closely, intellectual openness, resilience, and courage to act.

Outcome 4.1. Through an iterative design and development process with four test/revise time points over the course of the project, develop an understanding of effective models to (a) train pre-service teachers to implement biomimicry with elementary students in a maker-centered learning context and (b) support elementary students in a maker-centered learning.

Outcome 4.2. Advance knowledge of potential inroads for underrepresented and underserved children into deeper engagement in the maker community and STEM learning.
